Do you find most of the baitfish in rocky areas or in open sand banks?
@michaelparrisfish
@michaelparrisfish 2 года назад
Well the baitfish such as sardine, maasbanker, mackerel etc you find out in the open deeper water in big schools. Fish like mullet you get in the surf on banks as well as in the rocks. But the fish such as Blacktail etc are thick between the rocks

That Grunter 33 secs into your video which I just computed is the same grunter 9 mins 11 secs at the end of your video , could easily be considered fake it is so large . It is realistically the size of serious enough silver cob . I saw a Grunter so large once that I myself still can't believe what I saw , And yours measures up to massive . Are such Grunters common in your experience ?
@michaelparrisfish
@michaelparrisfish 3 года назад
Hey, yeah I think the Go-Pro definitely makes the size look massive. - It was an absolute monster Grunter, definitely not common to be that big and fat :)
@andrewlinesjah4538

@@michaelparrisfish I caught one in around 1992 that was very large and thick , One side of the fish was enough for six portions . Incredible . Such a fish is as you rightly say ... A MASSIVE , MONSTER GRUNTER !

Hey very niiice video, just a question. What happens should the chokka get bitten off along with the float? Will this not be a problem for the digestive system of the fish? Just want to know for the safety should one wish to practice catch and release for the sake of the species. Many thanks bru🤙
@michaelparrisfish
@michaelparrisfish 3 года назад
Hi there, I must be honest Iv never had it happen, the fish always gets hooked in the side and the float comes back, but I understand your point and I think I want to explore a fish safer option, thanks for bringing it up!

They have the ability to regurgitate what they have eaten. Shad often do it when hooked. Cob don't take small bites they swallow the bait.

I'm looking at getting the Loomis Archpelago 12ft for spinning and scratching. How do you rate your 11ft?
@michaelparrisfish
@michaelparrisfish 4 года назад
Hello, I love my Archipelago, caught a number of fish on it now and it really throws a mile. The setup is great but I find it a bit stiff for throwing lighter lures. Its great for heavy lures and long distance spinning but for smaller fish and smaller lures such as Bucktails I prefer a slightly smaller rod. The Archipelago is rated up to 4oz so really has proper backbone.
@Jbay2608
@Jbay2608 4 года назад
@@michaelparrisfish Thanks, when I spin it is usually with lures 2oz or heavier. I would like the option of the heavier lures for when I want a bit of extra distance for natal snoek etc.

@michaelparrisfish 4 года назад
Hi Hilgard, I had a Watercraft 2,6m dingy but have just upgraded to a Hercules as it has an inflatable keel which allows you to plane better. I use a 5.8HP Parsun motor. Pretty much any boat will work in the reefs as you dont need to go far.
