Sorry, but Brian Poole has no place with the band. He never sang on any of their charted hits. He always came off as a hanger-on. I know he was there at the start, but left fairly early.
Did they even mention Don't Throw Your Love Away? I mean sure Needles, Sweets and Sugar were all monster hits but they're all playground stuff compared to DTYLA which was the most mature and accomplished of the lot, bloody masterpiece and so weirdly overlooked
I spoke to Maureen after this show that was at the Edinburgh Playhouse and mentioned her crying and she said she cries every night and if she didn't cry, she would feel she would have cheated her audience. It was also the same week her sister Bernie passed away.
Ive know this song for decades. I didn't really know what it was about until my son was diagnosed with Autism, then it all fell into place. Great song.
Great nostalgic, historic and iconic musicians from a bygone era of true professional performers, the real shining stars of spectacular music and harmony.
I only watched Maureen in blood brothers she is absolutely amazing she played the role of mrs Johnstone very well I hope she come back in blood brothers again hopefully fingers crossed
I saw Chris as an opening act for The Beatles on their final tour in 1966. He was great then and still sounds great 50 years later. What fun days they were.

Melanie C is still my favorite in that role. I get chills every time I hear her. The young men who play her sons, wipe their eyes when they get up at the end. I think they can really feel Melanie's heartbreak. Not since Hamlet has there been such a sad play.
One detail that's not mentioned, that does come out in the documentary, is that Eric took a knife with him to the meeting, with the full intent on stabbing and killing Nagase. He actually planned it out, wanting to do so on camera to get revenge upon the man who had tortured him. He later said, after the meeting, that he had come to understand that Nagase was as much a victim as he was, and killing the man wouldn't have solved anything. Reconciling what they both went through, and the pain they both suffered with, both mental and physical, after the war made Eric realize that forgiveness was the best option. He also noted that, for the first time in years, he 'slept like a baby' after talking with Nagase. The reason Eric is carrying that bag, is it was to conceal the knife he planned to use to kill Nagase.

I loved the movie but I would have liked to see more about the healing process back home… I also know that the Japanese torture methods were way worse in reality. I doubt I would have been able to become friends…. btw Colin and Nicole nailed it.
a wonderful song. One could sing it at the end of a concert or perhaps a party. I had to look up Atholl Side. It looks it is part of the Highlands in Scotland. Beautifully performed, a nice thought. Like the Parting Glass.
