I stayed 2 nights in the king henry Vii suite - just from the moment i entered the room, i felt uneasy. It looked creepy, particularly at night. I couldnt get decent sleep, but overall i enjoyed the experience. The staff were excellent
It is a magnificent location. We had our wedding here. The staff are wonderful and the experience that they offer is outstanding. Attention to detail made it all spectacular. Location, venue and great staff...what more can you ask for? Thank you Howsham Hall, I will never forget.❤
Just beautiful, altho rather stuffed with furniture ! I think a little less of the gray walls everywhere, altho classy, might be preferable - makes the whole thing rather dark ! I could enjoy living there myself tho - hmmmm - just need to win that big money pot from somewhere - then who knows maybe I'd take over ! Sigh !
Hi Veronica, when you stay in the castle, it does not feel cluttered, I would say that you would really appreciate the luxurious feel of the property and the personal touches from the owners. Like you, many of us in the office could live there too! We are waiting for our lottery ticket to come true!! If you ever get the chance to holiday in Scotland get a group of friends and enjoy the castle for a weekend or week. We have had some great stays at this castle.
Yes it has the pitched roof wasn't there and it had a dungeon with hook in ceiling where Castle rustlers would be hanged...it was an amazing place to live when I was a child
I am very disappointed with this company, my friends and I booked a weekend in a castle well in advance (6 months) and during that time they knew exactly what we intended to do a bunch of friends playing games and have nice catered meals. Well apparently "playing games" is not covered by their insurance without one word to us or even a question to see if things could be resolved they canceled our booking less than a month away. Here I am in America already paid for a $3,000 airline ticket, $800 catering, $800 for a van rental to get myself and friends up to the venue and we're just SOL with no sympathy or accommodation. I for one will not be booking with Celtic castles ever again, I would suggest you stay well away from them.
I wouldn't jump....certain death for the entertainment of others. I would just let them kill me...at least that way I am denying them the the thrill of seeing me fall
I say save them all even if you have to divide them into apartment the magnificent building deserve preservation at any cost. I must say this castle is so warm and inviting

After seeing so many castles in ruins, it was nice to see one like this. Would love to see the collapsed ones restored, but it would cost millions or more.
Evocative historical castle. unparalleled opulence in the royal bedchamber we stayed in. My pride at having seeped into English culture, has never left me.

Looks bland, cold, and dark inside. Doesn't seem to have much light coming in. Also for castle it manages to look rather cramped inside. Yeah sure it's full of character, but I wouldn't at all want to live in it. As a holiday destination sure, but not much more than that.
I have stayed there a few times and it warm, cosy and the interiors are beautiful. Lovely location. I agree maybe not a place to call home for all time, but it an awesome holiday let. Remember it was a defensive building so the windows are small. Have you ever stayed in a castle Fly Beep?
