I did this course in June and only saw 4 other people, I definitely did not think it would take as long as it did! And then I climbed to the top of mt. Misen, I was very tired at the end of the day.
It`s crucial to learn about horror and inhumanity of A-bombs, but it`s also important to disclose why the United States decided to drop A-bombs over not military facilities but civilians. It`s hard to believe that democratic states like the United States nuked against non-combatants including children in such a gruesome way. American people have been taught that A-bombings urged Imperial Japan to accept the unconditional surrender and a lot of American soldiers as well as Japanese citizens were spared. But it is an ostensible reason. The real purpose of A-bombings were to intimidate Stalin and contain the Soviet Union in Asia by demonstrating overwhelming military edge over Russia. Imperial Navy was annihilated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October, 1944, and Japan`s defeat was unavoidable to everyone`s eyes. A-Bombings were unnecessary.
