Stop by and have a seat on the barstool at our Virtual Public House, and let's chat about the goings-on in Lake Forest, Illinois. We lean into humor and parody, and it's all in good fun-nothing said should be taken too seriously. Our goal is to entertain and, occasionally, educate (though expect more of the former than the latter).

Bonfires produce 'greenhouse' gases, so more carbon dioxide, adding to global warming. Just like the plastic fields, added in Lake Forest, when the professional teams like the Bears and Cubs both play on natural grass. So much for global warming. Underfunded pensions are still growing in Lake Forest, now up to 69 million dollars. (Underfunded pensions are UNPAID bills.)
Another good video. Movies are entertaining lately also. Am I Racist? Reagan. Another Dinesh D'Souza film is Vindicating Trump following 2000 Mules in 2022. The Navy Band joined the Lake Forest Band for their home game halftime performance years ago. Comments by Joe regarding the Zion Marching Band revived my memory of that special performance.
Interesting discussions, Libertyville comes to mind. Frisbee golf is played in the same park as a very nice outdoor pool. Lake Zurich Bears lost in football there last night. The Wildcats are undefeated presently, October they play the Scouts. Joe has me wondering if he's ever listened to Paul Harvey and "The Rest of the Story"
Enjoyable chitchat video. When it began with debate talk and Joe expressed his frustration over it, one of his remarks reminded me of the Samuel Goldwyn quote, "Any man who goes to a psychiatrist ought to have his head examined"
Great video, Skoo is rejuvenated. My Uncle Mike was on the only undefeated football team in our Michigan hometown, but then failed the Army physical because of high blood pressure. His high IQ then got him in the OSS and in China with TNT under his bunk to blow up where he was if he was discovered. Four years ago, Lake Forest and Lake Bluff were saturated with Biden/Harris yard signs. Looking around now, I didn't see any Harris/Walz signs where I passed by in Lake Forest, and only one Harris for President in Lake Bluff. If yard signs are a good indication of popularity, Sandy Hart is very, very popular in Lake Bluff.
Stereotypical Lake Forest snobs. The lack of empathy here is mind-blowing. These podcasters here sit around comfortably in their homes (some of them live in homes valued >$1million), judging people who are struggling with homelessness as if it's some sort of moral failing. The way they talk about 'getting rid' of homeless people like they're some kind of pest is beyond revolting. It's dehumanization. Maybe instead of complaining about people giving money to those in need, they should take a hard look at the broken system that forces people onto the streets in the first place. But no, it's easier for them to sit in their cushy little bubbles, spewing ignorance and hate. Shame on all of them.
My wife and I watched the enjoyable LF parade. A Waukegan neighbor walked by us with the Caucus who hadn't planned on being volunteered. I was in Bad Axe Michigan for my 50th HS reunion last weekend. That area of Michigan is Trump Country. The house where I stayed for 3 days had removed their Biden/Harris sign prior to the last presidential election because it was making a neighbor feel uncomfortable.
Tosi is a great candidate who will represent the 51st District of Illinois well. She has an impressive and diverse background and will bring much needed business experience to Springfield. This is something that her opponent can't say.
What makes you think this RINO is a good candidate or even a good guy! If you like abortion, real estate companies that sell US land to China and a board member of the Red Cross that help illegals, and a guy who can’t decide if he’s Dem or Republican, sure, vote for this loser!
Pete...I hope you and Joe are planning to set up again for the revote. What happens if they lose again? Another revote until they get it the way they want? This is getting foolish. 2 majority votes tossed aside. People want a revote if they win this time...only fair right? I personally like the Caucus but something ain't kosher here. Prue Beitler is the rightful ruler. Randy is terrific but not fair what was done to Prue.I did love the crying meme you posted....funny. She should not have had to spend the $200k for her election. That is a scar that will never go away.
Instead of or in addition to building a new police station, the police should install police drone boxes around town, in strategic locations. Then, kind of like the Shot Spotters, someone could alert police and the police would instantly deploy the drone. That way, police would not have to patrol every single corner of the city. I think this same thing should be applied to Chicago. A drone box on every corner. Instant end to carjackings.
@@lakeforestpodcast Yes! But in addition to the camera, add a weather proof box onto the same pole. The box would contain a miniature drone that police could operate from the station. Use cell tower technology to be able to control the drone. Land the drone on the vehicle and attach using a high powered magnet. In fact, if people learned that such a device exists, criminals wouldn't enter the city of Lake Forest period. In other words, a 100% catch rate means zero crime. Why would you commit a crime if there is a 100% chance you would be caught? Word would get around amongst criminal circles. Then the only problem is: would criminals resort to other crimes? I don't think we should worry about that, though. Let's solve home break ins and carjackings and worry about other crimes later. Agreed?
@@lakeforestpodcast Thanks. But then I went into more detail: Police should regularly fly drones over cities, especially at night. And a point about that: once criminals learn of that kind of program, they would no longer commit crimes in neighborhoods.
We will see more crimes like this brazenly committed if Eric Rinehart is re-elected Lake County State’s Attorney. With Eileen O’Neill Burke taking over for Kim Foxx as Cook County State’s Attorney on December 1, Lake County will become the top destination for criminals because they know Rinehart will not fully prosecute them. We can end this madness by electing Mary Cole for Lake County State's Attorney. She’s a former prosecutor who will fully prosecute criminals and not just give them a slap on the wrist like Foxx and Rinehart are doing.
Where do the Bears state they are asking for taxpayers money? The infrastructure is expected to be from federal and state funds available for these types of projects.
Not seeing a lot of revenue generating restuarants/bars/hotels/entertainment outside the stadium itself. Football/Baseball Fields aren't going to generate enough revenue to payback the $5-$7 billion invested in this project. It'll be another financial boondoggle like the last stadium upgrade that the city/park district are STILL trying to pay off 20 years later.
The Bears actually will realize over 5 Billion from the city plus an amazing amount of extra income for concerts, parking, food services, and liquor sales on a so called publicly owned stadium. About as likely as peace and love in the Middle East.
These videos are way too long and almost never present new ideas for solving actual problems. All they do is chit chat about politics and complain in general, without addressing anything. Lots of electricity being wasted watching.
@@lakeforestpodcast I would like to come on the show, thanks. I have some good ideas but they are pretty intense. For example, I think all public schools should put out high fiber cereal dispensers with free cereal all day. 1 in 3 children is obese. By 2030, 1 in 2 adults will be obese. That is our world's problem. Cafeteria food is very unhealthy.
@@lakeforestpodcast I just applied to be a Mental Health Technician. Hopefully, I will start training soon. Once I find my grounding, I'll reach out... thanks! In the meantime, think about: Don a backpack Walk to Jewel and buy a box of All Bran Buds with 17 grams of fiber per serviing Feast Weigh yourself just before bed after consuming lots of water and showering (so, your heaviest weight of the day) Wake up, empty your bladder and colon, don't drink any water, and weigh yourself again Should be 5-10 pounds lighter. That alone helped me lose a ton of weight.
Fantastic guest! I enjoyed doing the Athens Greece Marathon October 79, but when preparing to leave witnessed a Swiss Air flight with about 100 doctors on board burning after it overshot the runway. 14 deaths occurred from pilot error. A team I joined came in 2nd place in an Ultra Marathon in Bahrain in 1998, and we were dubbed "public security". Your guest is exceptionally interesting and I learned a lot about how running is done these days.
So in other words, the vote they just had didn't matter because they said so? Total BS. Why should people come and vote in any of their elections in the future?
The city should send out a debit card for a UBI to all residents 18 and older, but you only get the money if you vote! If you don't vote, the money stays in the fund, invested in T bills. So perhaps it could become somewhat self funding. People and businesses could contribute to the UBI to help out their fellow citizens. Once per month, the amount is calculated and then distributed evenly to all card holders, approx. 19,000 people.
So is voting even needed in a local small town echo-chamber ? Where is civic transparency & arms-length-scrutiny when a City self-recommends findings for itself, directing its own elected Boards to vote in favor of Itself ? The Government Petitioner, Owner, Ordinance Interpreter & Enforcer, Landlord, Subsidizer, Developer decides & approves for itself without elected independent due diligence and best practices ? With inquiry, notable are the near & unanimous votes by City Boards ruling & voting in favor of the City itself. Rulings preordained so resident voting not so wanted ? Truth to power evidences voting may not even be needed in a local echo-chamber. The trains run on time and the City of Lake Forest still looks good… youtube.com/@60045LakeForest?si=YmdscPalPGkZgDw1
Nobody shows up to vote because there's almost always nothing worth discussing. And the few times there is something worth discussing, votes don't matter. It's whoever has the backing to get their team to come out and vote. But the main issue is, we have better things to do than worry about small topics. List something we should have voted on that was worth considering.
These votes by The Caucus are a joke. I think that is an excellent idea to have a vote if the citizens want the Caucus anymore. MANY of the aldermen ignore emails to them by their constituents with significant concerns. When I was a political science major at DePaul, contact with constituents, no matter how petty they deemed it, deserved a response. They don't do that here and it is noticed. Neighbors talk to each other, and this is reflected by the discontent in elections. It depends on what street you live on in Lake Forest. Great program Pete & Joe. Stay strong.
100% Joe! The way the vote is performed is a extremely discriminatory and a narrow selection of Lake Forest’s population. Voting in the election is nearly impossible for families with young children, seniors with limited mobility, or those who work late. All extremely large demographics that were highly represented in the vote in our regular elections.
Please STOP cutting each other off. Let the other complete a thought. Difficult to follow the scattered, choppy thoughts. Make a point for the sake of the audience. Cross-talk banter turns away audiences. Just my $0.02.
1 in 3 children is obese. Could public schools help with this problem? For example, what would happen if the high school put out cereal dispensers with free high fiber cereal, which children could eat whenever they wish, i.e. the dispensers would always be available, all day long? The school could also put out a milk machine, or children would just bring their own thermos, bowl, and spoon. Since the ratio is 1 in 3, it seems like that is the world's biggest problem.
This podcast should address items that no public space has yet addressed: violations of what we who are members of the Illinois bar now:know about common law conflicts of interest; the state’s official misconduct statute:; and the city’s ethics code.
Federal District Court complaint filed in 2021 against LFHS. (21-CV-2755) 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 4 years later and the Federal District Court still can not determine what facts are the truth.
Thanks to Pete and Joe for a great discussion on this issue. I'll be the first to agree that all school districts owe their constituents clear and accurate information, but the Parents Care argument seems based on some vague grievance politics. In this case, an employee gave a student their phone number; the employee was fired within an hour of the school finding out. Good work, LFHS!
Amen lady could you please please take control of our country and make everything make sense to the rest of these idiots running our country they only care about foreigners not any of us Americans that pays there way in life we don’t get kickbacks by cartel
A truly great guest, someone who really knows her stuff. I saved myself from medical that overprescribed me after a heart attack last July. The combo of intermittent fasting and walking quickly brought down my diabetic A1C from 11 to 6 and now it has been 6 months since I went from injecting myself with 3 shots of insulin per day to zero and lived to tell the tale.
Just for reference Field Marshal SHFJ Manekshaw called everyone sweetie. 😂 It is usually people with weak minds that get offended by such off hand syllable.
Make a mountain out of a molehill is a expression that comes to mind here. Thanks for showing this. The speakers were very good and the mayor probably loves the attention.
