On the example you show you could save at least £1500 by doing it yourself and buying from a dealer rather than an auction. No auction fee and no JDM fee. Some export dealers are actually cheaper than auctions. My latest purchase which is very similar price to your example price. £5296.82 will cost me £8550 on the road, that includes mot and registration fee. The reason I buy is the complete lack of rust. The underside is like new.
I have a 7 and these cars are so much fun to drive and you can feel the rawness in their engineering and provide so much vibes but when you have an issue and it's making you chase your tail it makes you want to throw the car as far as you can. You mentioned the weather strips, can you provide us with a link to where you can purchase those?
Sure thing, I got mine from Ross Sport which is collection only. If not, your local mitsubishi dealership can also get them. Their official name is a drip moulding. www.rosssport.com/Brands/Mitsubishi-OEM-Parts/Roof-Moulding-Run-Channel-LH-Evo-7-9-MITMR520287
And yes, the cars are amazing. If something goes wrong I'm lucky I have Gary at AP Tuning 20 minutes from me as he is an Evo expert. I thought about getting rid of it, but I can't, I love it!
@@dominichills thank you. I'll have to looking into it because I am in Barbados but I just love the look of new OEM mouldings and finding them is pretty difficult
Hi Dom. Would rather hear the engines roar, than the silence when copy right music is there. Good show and great vid. Btw. will the 3000 GT V6 Mitsubishi engine fit in the Lancer? It´s in the Galant 3000 GT. Just a suggestion if Gary have some funny projects and a load of your money😄 BR NGK of DK
Thanks for your video. I agree almost everything, except for a couple of things. For the fourth mod, with the Evo 8's stock turbo, with full 3" exaust line, the power is usually around 350hp with gasoline. If you want to use E85, you need to upgrade the injectors. On the other hand, I do not see the need to change the stock ECU. Before that I would put a lot of things, (better tires, better brake pads, metal hoses, sway bars...)
I spose it's based on what I use the car for. After the track day, if I did more in the Evo, then I'd definitely want pads changed, more track orientated tyres etc.
I’ve got a MK7 running 345bhp and a quaffe diff, it’s unreal! However ive been told the mk8 handles better at higher speeds and the front end feels more planted.
That sounds mega! My tuner has a 420bhp track car Mk7. The 8 is better up to stage 2 from what I've read but then the extra cylinder on the 7 just destroys the 8 from there.
haha got the same problem with my gears, but its my 2nd that wont go in for a bit, just wants the rev to drop then it will go in when its still cold, my reverse is 80% okay, my picky this are the foot pedals, don't really like them that much.
I've had 4 mitsubishi Evo's over the years. When I was looking for a new car I wasn't prepared to pay the stupid money for another Evo so I got the Focus RS. Had it two and a half years now. I feel it's the modern day successor to the Evo. Similar to drive but with a nicer inerior and lots less rust :)
people here in australia always crack the shts when i tailgate them with my frozen white fiesta st... it looks so angry.. thats why ford made the new one look more suttle IMO... weak pricks..
Not always if you are patient and shop around you can get some very good deals, the big bonus is no rust, the undersides are literally like new. Even a 10yr old car in the U.K. is usually already heavily rusted. That is the main reason I buy from Japan or Singapore.
I always drive now with it without them but I have a switch to put them on. My plan now is to get it shortened so I just get 1 bang instead of all the other pops, and then I'll use it just for fun times and drive the rest without it on.
i have an mk3 focus rs its running mountune 400X with forged pistons and rods balance shaft delete and bafled sump if you want to take it for a spin then let me know
nice video. as for the Evo its your car so do what you want however I don't think its all about power. in my personal opinion i think its all about how a car drives and feels. yes power is nice but id take a car that handles well and is fun around corners rather than top speed and hp. not saying GTR's handle bad they are probably very great but just because you cant keep up with other people on a track day doesn't mean get a new car if you enjoy your car keep it don't feel forced into buying another car because of that. And a track day is not a race anyways its about enjoying your own car at your own pace on a track. One thing I did learn switching from my VXR to my Micra is that lower power cars can still be fun depending how you drive it. yes driving my Micra can get quite boring on highways maybe good for a chill drive if it isn't too busy. However the taking it on a fun twisty back roads the Micra can get quite exciting and is were it definitely shines for excitement. reason why I picked the VXR because it offered a great balanced experience it handled really well and it also had a nice amount of power at least for me that and it looked good and different. I would say that the VXR is more fun when they work that is. the sound of the turbo and that feeling when you put your foot down it is fun but id have more fun going around corners in my VXR than going in a straight line having more power probably makes it a bit more fun in a straight line but its all how a car feels in my opinion. I cant say as I've never driven or been in any of those cars but id say a Evo would be more fun drivers car than a r35 GTR. I think the Evo would deliver a more involved experience with the Evo you have a manual transmission a r35 is missing that 3rd pedal and gear shifter. also some other things may feel more fun i cant say as I've never driven any of those. don't get me wrong both are extremely cool cars and I'm a fan of both the GTR and the Evo. its all down to personal preference but power and specs isn't everything some cars like the Mazda MX5, Suzuki Cappuccino , Honda beat and the MG B proved that a fun sports car does not have to be powerful. but hope this helped obviously its your car your decision and whatever makes you feel happy if a gtr makes you more happy and you can afford it then go for it but just because that somone is faster or that someone has a different opinion doesn't mean you should sell the Evo or keep it its completely up to you. by all means use other opinons to make your own decisions but dont say oh he said this so mean this. loads of people have hated on my cars especially on my corsa vxr and I didn't sell it i got rid of it because someone crashed into me. I don't really like the VXR much anymore as its not a very reliable car I was just seeing what they are like but I loved driving that car.
Love this! Thank you for a solid opinion. The Evo has always been a dream car, and the R35 running costs would be insane. Cheaper long run to build the Evo so that might be the plan!
@@dominichills what are Evo's like if you don't mind me asking. someone said that i need deep pockets to own a evo and said he owned one needed constant maintenance and it was very expensive more than his bmw m2 which that might be the thing stopping me from wanting one.
@jayfrosvlogs if you drive it in the salt that can be an issue. But if you don't, and you don't run crazy power and overly push the engine, plus if you get the right guy to look after it and get a good one to start, you'll be fine. I haven't found it expensive. The fuel is going to be if you daily it for sure.
Thanks for coming and doing a video. it was such a shame the weather played havoc on the day after how nice last year was. Hopefully next year we can return with the quality of cars we had this year but far better weather lol
Hi Dom. What a bunch of clean cars. Yeah, weather was not with you. Also looking at Kev´s VII newly upgrade. Using Gary´s place. If you need the quicker drive, you can´t beat most electric cars anyway. Just hope you will continue as a petrolhead. Put 2JZ in it: ru-vid.comDeUPYxLdfLE?si=WxZwGNkqksp9-104 BR NGK of DK
Haha I love the 4G63T. Such a distinct sound. And yes Kev uses Gary as well as I do for the tuning and modifications. I'd never go electric, no noise which I'd hate. And yes, the cars on the day were stunning, brilliant, and the show was good. Thanks for watching as always!
I will do a full exhaust soon on mine. I just installed a JCW back boxes on my 2006 cooper s, far as I know the rest of the exhaust is identical. Sounds amazing and huge improvement for topend.
No worries. Like I've said to others in comments, shop about for an importer etc and just make sure you get everything checked and you'll be all good 😊
I can agree! The cost for container or a space on one of the drive on ships, all the fees, and the fees by the companies this side as well. It has definitely increased sadly.
Fk8 all day , i own one and my friend own the focus …. Im having a/c problem when he is having the headgasket problem … reliability the end ! Keep up the work
He has some other minor issues wich were covered under the warranty … dont get me wrong i find it’s a great car, hell of a good machine but i make my living out of repairing ford so… not to say the fk8 isnt without problems! Ive had a couple , but cant compare because ive bought mine used and him bought his rs brand new
Sounds good, but how is the volume compared to stock? I don’t mind a little different tone and the pops sound nice, but don’t want to wake up the neighborhood leaving for work.
@wouter2403 I wouldn't say it's crazy loud, I really like it, but it can get a little droney around the 65-70mph mark. But with having an Evo it could just be how I'm wired because that is loud lol
@@dominichills final review from my side: exhaust fitment is pretty damn good. Took me about an hour to swap the exhaust. Sound is a little louder than leaking stock exhaust. But driving normally not too bad. When I give it the beans, it’s pretty noisy 😆.
You don’t need more power just better reliability, 400hp reliable to run all day on track is enough. Brake issues although a BBK is better no doubt the issues you were having with judder is more likely down to pad material on discs. Upgrade pads/lines and fluid and it will be a good cheaper upgrade than £2k on Alcons
Yeah, it's just the ability to push the car more and more I spose. Not sure if I'll take it on track again for a while, might have something else planned 😉
