Founded by Teofilo Colon Jr (a.k.a Tio Teo) in February 2010. BEING GARIFUNA is a media platform that uses photos, videos and articles to document the culture, arts, politics, sports, spirituality & social lives of people who identify as Garifuna.

Being Garifuna also tries to expand awareness of Garinagu (plural for Garifuna) to the general public, serve as a networking and communications resource to the Garifuna community and finally, connect Garinagu across the world online.
