I am glad you are providing this opportunity for communities. It will open a lot of doors to schools who want to include Noteflight in their curriculum!
Some fantastic ideas and practices, some which I've used myself with great success and others I know to be popular amongst other successful writers. However, always important to remember this won't work for everyone. Listening to your inner voice, your gut, etc. is absolutely crucial above all else. What she says in the very beginning about keeping copious notes - "song seeds" - and being observant of not only the world around you but also the world inside your head is the best advice of all.
Thanks much for the class Melissa. Great to get this kind of background and inspiration. Now the big question. Once you've crafted a great song, how do you get it out there for people to enjoy?
what i do is first have it in strip layout then hover your mouse above one of your measures there will be a little bubble next to the end of the measure with a + in it click that to add measures and then if you want to go back into page layout and have multiple lines before you go to page layout add the || type bar line thing at the end of the measure of which you want the line to end and then go to page layout that usually works
How do I arrange my score to were there are only 4 measures per line? I hate that it crams 5 measures together in a line while there are lines with only 3 measures.
Sorry for not specifying! To create a second tempo in your score, select a measure and type in a new number next to the "quarter note equals" at the bottom of the screen.
Adding pickup measures is covered in our Beyond the Basics 1 video; you can add a measure to the beginning of your score and give it a hidden time signature.
