Learning Without Frontiers is a global platform for disruptive thinkers, innovators and practitioners to share knowledge, ideas and experiences about the future of learning.
That’s the sad 😞 world we live in today when social media first got introduced nearly every human has mental health and becomes obsessed with other people can’t let it go even taking them to court over the dispute most times they are found not guilty get let off to easy even with strong evidence
School without books? Sounds nutty. But it's true. The Calgary Board of Educattion built a school without a library space. No books allowed. No book budget. Some of the teachers came to the book supplier where i worked to buy books for their students, using their own money . They did this because some of their students couldn't absorb knowledge ftom screens.
So true! It's not technology, dumbing down, or lack of boundaries. It's discipline, knowledge, and strong boundaries. My 13 year old just read the unabridged "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" last year for 8th level. He actually liked it! Geography, Oceanography, History, Philosophy, Psychology, action...all of his favorites are there! But his friends could not even fathom (pun intended) the first chapter. I realized that my son had built the skills over time. Difficult vocabulary, inference, as well as chronological study of history, watching "Octonauts," and school of hard knocks taught him so much. But his friends had not learned how to read, didn't watch TV with learning in mind, and were the ones dishing out the hard knocks out of frustration. They don't have parents read to them at bedtime as we do. They don't have individualized education plan as we do (we homeschool), and they don't have parents who taught them right from wrong. It doesn't take money or technology. We make $40k a year. My husband built our home computer. We write on the back of scrap paper he brings home from work. We eat out once a month, don't go on fancy vacations, and eat beans and rice quite often. But my son is deliriously happy.
Are you saying the ongoing traditions of Oxford and Cambridge are stuffy places and that students possibly shine brighter in other establishments as a result of their good upbringing?
The Art of Éducation when of the philosophie say<> èduqued the brain we what èduqued the heart it is not education :<>mean you our her drow in the brain of the students with information and experience your experience and for me the education is Art and the purpose of education is to give human can dream can give science human can think human have vision about what he or she wont to do in future human he or her ho have good behaver this for me like forme me the ability and the power of education came frome the humaine he or her and the pruprose of education came frome the personne not frome the outher we have just introduced to the brain ho or her that living with vision it came idea and idea came pruprose in life may meaning that when they are baby in this belly of this mother spoke with him or her that listening with the good idea until he or her came to this world with vision in the future just and Allah blessed us all peace be upon us all.
😂 the Bible says ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of the truth you need to realize that you're a sinner and you need to repent and receive Jesus as your savior Amen to that i pray 🙏
I have personally encountered these woman street stalkers operating on the barrack Rd Northampton stalking my now ex wife I saw them then going into Campbell square police station. And the same people are now to this very day still stalking me along with a retired cop son from Melton Mowbray he's not a cop a lifelong stalker cops call him steeeee roid man. Steeeers others to his target entitled because he's got away with it for so long. Electronic molesters all who participate as the local magistrates say.
A lot of these stalkers use police stations as a sanctuary to get a clothes change and shower and a free meal these and others come from mi5 professional stalkers who also work for local councils the Ripa. Surveillance. Laws. Activated by the security head at council offices. Who will listen to hearsay and lies and activate a surveillance programme on anyone ie animal rights or demonstrators or anyone who they dislike.
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:52 📚 The purpose of education, rooted in enlightenment, is to encourage inquiry, creativity, and the pursuit of understanding, allowing learners to develop the ability to learn on their own. 02:06 🧠 An opposing concept of education involves indoctrination, where individuals are expected to conform, follow orders, and not challenge existing frameworks, often driven by institutions. 07:01 💻 Technological advancements, while significant, do not compare to the dramatic shifts in communication and other technologies in the past. Technology itself is neutral, and its value depends on the user's framework and purpose. 11:08 🌐 Meaningful use of technology, such as the internet, requires a well-constructed conceptual apparatus to guide searches and evaluations. 15:25 💡 A thriving educational system should encourage creative exploration, independence of thought, and the willingness to challenge accepted beliefs, contributing to cultural enrichment and progress. 17:00 📝 Standardized tests can serve as useful tools for assessment and improvement but should not divert students from pursuing their interests and passions. 20:09 🌱 Effective teaching should inspire students to discover on their own, challenge ideas, and work through past achievements that genuinely interest them, fostering the ability to learn independently. Two comments I’m questioning. One he states that developing creativity, inquiry, and analysis is not the same as having the skill and knowledge to increase the GDP. Second, he states that you cannot hope to increase economic productivity without the former. I agree with his second comment. But, it seems to me that the question remains in what way can you contribute to your economy? Is GDP not a measure of this, and doesn’t education have a role to play in this endeavour?
I was effective in the NYC public schools with P.A.T.C (that commonwealth chic, Patsy!) - Preparation Active teaching Time management Consistency! Of course, other than the Science teacher, Ms Williams (from Barbados), we were the only two teachers in the Module (four sets of 6th grade classes in one section of the school) who enforced discipline. Mih nah joke, as the Caribbean folks would say.
Lefty urban 'teecher's response to the first comment Birbalsingh says: "Ee-ohh! NO child is un-teachable!" And there we have the nub of the problem. When I first started teaching in state schools some forty years ago, you might have 2, maybe 3, primary-age children who were deemed 'slow readers'. By the time I left teaching in 2005, you'd get a class of 30 9-year-olds, and 10 or twelve of them were 'slow'. Wtf is going on? How were we asleep on watch?
Rather comical that the moderator's last word was to appear to apologize for such an intimidatingly successful group of elite educators, when in fact they were most likely over confident and over 'qualified' failures. She wasn't intimidated at all, no, not in the slightest😏
