Had the same thing happen today on the same side of my 2016 St. After using penetrating oil and working it manually, it has gotten better. If you actually fixed yours what did you do? New cable?
Yeah fitted a new cable Sean, £58 from ford, but omg what a nightmare job to do on axle stands in the street! Everywhere I rang couldn’t do it for two weeks but I needed the car to go away in… so bit the bullet and did it myself, pretty pleased with myself for doing it, but it was a fiddly job to do!
Remove the plugs underneath the car and remove the insulation - long nosed pliers is best for pulling it out Re sealing the vents only lasts about a year or so Removing the plugs and insulation allows the water to run straight out First sign of issue will be water in the spare wheel well
@@danielelliott6235 I personally don't think its normal or correct my partners was fine at the start till about 6 months in it makes the noise sometimes when your just stood near it I think there's some electric fault
The key to this is to make sure that everything is really clean and dry, otherwise the silicone won’t stick/last. I did mine a few years ago and used a hairdryer to dry everything out. I’ve had no issues since
This is why I don't buy Fords.... Don't get me wrong they are not 'bad' cars to drive, but build quality shit like this is a joke. Your car looks like it's on the assembly line. You shouldn't need to be doing this. Ford should fix this as a recall, absolute joke that you're having to tear down your car like this. Fair play for doing it, but this is 100% Ford responsibility imho.
Hi, nice video I have the same issue which I'm going to fix. I was wondering how easy it is to take out the carpet from the sides of the boot - it looks like it goes under the trim at the side of the seats. Are there any hidden catches or anything I need to be aware of? Also, how do you get the carpet out from under the trim/kick plates at the front? Did you remove the trim or just lift it a little?
from what I remember, most of the boot carpet pulls out from under the trim... you shouldn't have to pull too hard... if it wont come out with light pressure then some of the trim needs removing! most of the trim pieces, both front and rear are clipped in and come out with reasonable force, just thoroughly examine everything before pulling at it! Some bits are screwed in, some are internal clips and some are external clips that need removing before the trim
This happened to my mk3 also... got it fixed. Finally. Pig to get all sealed up etc but now its done I do love the car. Just typical ford. Cheap fkrs on the build quality. Changing light bulbs is another pain on fords.
