nice and creative work. thank you! greetings from my beautiful and loved colombia, South America. one question. after, the fabric can be washed and ironed no problem?
Thanks for a lovely window into your world! I hope one day soon I will start to build my own dye garden. I love your channel and I also have my own sustainable art practice. You are one of my biggest influences. I am getting ready to launch a primary botanical ink system. I researched over the past 12 months and found all primary colours in nature. I found not all botanical dye materials blend with each other so I had to find the exact combination using magenta, warm yellow, cool yellow and cyan. I believe it’s unique and unfounded. I love your content as it’s equally artistic as it is scientific. It would be amazing if you would be happy to test my inks and tell me what you think. I could send you samples. ❤️
Hi there, thank you so much for your kind words. I’m glad to hear that my content has been helpful and inspiring to you. I truly appreciate your generous offer, but I’ve made it a practice not to accept colour or ink samples. That said, I’m sure your inks are fantastic, and I wish you all the best with them!
WHY DO U NOT HAVE MORE SUBSCRIBERS!!! UR SO UNDERRATED!! I love your content so much, im a young DIY and art nerd and this channel is like a gold mine for me :)) Thanks for sharing ur awesome stuff on here ❤

Hi Do you know the difference between calcium carbonate, calcium acetate and lime? I heard that when combined with vinegar the eggshells will dissolve, and wonder if this can be used for making lakes I also wonder if Gofun and lime have any connection. It would be nice to understand all the range of what can be achieved from shells!
Amazing video!! thank you so so much. I was wondering if you have a typical guide on the specific volume of dye solution, aluminum, and sodium nitrate you put in? I saw it was I think 40ml and 20ml of the latter two ingredients, but I wasn't exactly sure on how much volume of the dye solution there was. Cheers!
Thank you for this wonderful, thorough video. I'm just starting to experiment with natural dyes and this was an extremely helpful tutorial. Is it possible to use a food processor/blender to break up the flowers and leaves before boiling? You mentioned bruising the leaves with a stick. If I dedicate a processor to pigments and no longer for food, could it work? Would it release too much chlorophyll and make the dye turn green?
Indeed, I would love to reepat the process with sepiolite and indigo from Indigofera suffruticosa. Unfortunately, these materials are not available in my region. The final colour is directly related to the type of indigo pigment used.
Beautiful journey! And your water colour journal. We need people like yourself to show a hurried world a need to slow down and enjoy each moment on your own unique path...Thank You for sharing your gift 🙏🏽
It is so amazing and inspiring that you cycle so far to your garden Jyotsna and thats even before you've started the gardening work for that day. Yay you 🌸
Thank you. I didn't realize that the music from RU-vid had muffled my voice. You can watch it again with my commentary this time, so you'll know what I'm actually saying. 🙂
My painting just don’t look right feel right and I’m trying to figure out different road in life to take.. do you know how to make your own canvas and what do you use to make it like your medium or is there a natural way?
Had read that lake pigments cant be made into a dye later for cotton but can for wool. Can paint with a lake pigment on cotton fabric? Is it very wash or light fast?
Although I love learning new skills I am high disturbed by the fact that you’re helping yourself to rocks from national parks - that’s illegal and it deprives the public of that which is protected for a reason.
I appreciate your concern, but I want to clarify that I always abide by the rules. Your assumption about me taking rocks from national parks with restrictions is inaccurate. It's essential not to jump to conclusions without knowing the full story. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to ask, but please refrain from making baseless comments.thank you
Thanks for the great video. I do have a question . How do you obtain the colours you would like to have ? Like Red or black !. How do you find those kinda material? Thanks
YES! Really thrilled to see you exploring Japanese Knotweed and getting great results--and moreover really leaning into the process, finding awe, and encouraging the release of expectation around the end product. Nature adventures and art experiments with you look so exciting!
Thank you for sharing your story. You certainly have had a lot to deal with in your life and I think you have managed all the twists and turns with grace and a sense of adventure
Hi Jyotsna, How did you make the Blue ochre/Vivianite ... did you order pigment for that or grind it down yourself ? Thanks - Beautiful video as always
I cant tell you how much I enjoyed watching this video and many others. I am changing and evolving so much after a huge life change. My partner died tragically in my arms while I slept. I wanted to leave this earth - but after so much change, I have come to where I am today.I am SO drawn to your process and story. I live on a river and am constantly collecting things and not always sure why or what to do with them. We hike daily - as we live in an area of a wildlife preserve. I feel like I have finally found what I have unknowingly been searching for. I LOVE watercolor and have been painting for years. Thank you for sharing your story and for showing up in my world.
Dear Teresa, thank you for being here and for sharing your story. I am so sorry to hear about the profound loss you experienced, and I can only imagine the strength it takes to navigate such a challenging journey. It's incredibly inspiring to hear that you've found solace and transformation through the changes in your life. The connection you feel to my process and story warms my heart, and I'm honoured to be a small part of your world. With heartfelt gratitude, Jyotsna
Thanks for sharing what can be done with just three natural primaries! Do you ever work with natural pigments as gouache? If so, how does it compare in saturation?
I haven't delved deeply into it yet, as there are numerous variables to consider, making it necessary for an extensive experimentation process. I am gradually working my way towards it.
Thanks for sharing your journey. I am so grateful to you, and Elma Hogeboom (I suggest checking out her youtube channel) for introducing me to sustainable art! Elma, like you, is a sustainable artist and paintmaker with a science background.
