“Low-key R&B legend" Eddie Chacon made an indelible mark in popular music as half of the duo Charles & Eddie, whose 1992 single “Would I Lie to You” was a number one hit heard around the world. The group’s 8-million-records-sold rocket to the stars lasted a few years, and Eddie spent the next couple of decades carving out a career as a photographer and creative director. He returned to music in 2020 (produced by John Carroll Kirby) and signed to Stones Throw Records in 2022.
The question that haunts Sundown is whether the unexpected success of Pleasure Joy and Happiness can be replicated. The answer turns out to be a qualified yes. - THE GUARDIAN (5 stars)
The album avoids the trappings of a throwback or revival of a bygone era, instead exploring the rarely glimpsed side of that genre’s themes of passion and heartbreak, sung by a bruised but wiser man. - THE NEW YORK TIMES
Eddie Chacon’s R&B pop exploits are both influential and legendary. - KCRW
We’re listening Eddie and we love you!!!! You were beautiful then and you’re beautiful now. Thank you for your music. May Charles rest in eternal peace. Together you were magic. May God continue to bless you.

I think Eddie should team up with Shawn Mendes and re-release this song. There are too many young people who don't even know this song exists. By teaming up with Shawn it would cross-generations. No disrespect intended to Charles whatsoever. We all miss him and that voice. That's my idea, so Eddie, let's talk :)
I don't know why I like Eddie Chacón. It's so strange, bizarre, but I love his non-terrestrial music. The man, however, shows a mature attitude towards his life.
