This will not be the last rendition. Villanueva 's Dune for it all stunning spectacle and clever imagination is not perfect. There are short cuts the film made that make it a less than perfect adaptation. Even Dune made by David Lynch has moments of brilliance in its adaptation.

This book left a great impression on me. I'm probably the only person who will say this, and I've read Dune at least 3 times and I've seen all the movies, but it seems I will only ever love and enjoy Dune 1984. Because although it didn't show Paul Atreidis as antihero it was fun and although costumes were low budget they looked colourful. Each actor showed unique personality. Also backstory did help to introduce audience that hadn't read the books

A little too old for the Paul in the book but they didn't have timer for him to grow up. Herbert liked him, as I recall. I understand he approved of the movies portrayal of his world. But I could be misremembering.
