You’ve been diagnosed with a chronic condition-or have been told you’re at risk for one-and you’re not sure what to do. Your doctor has given you some pills or a handout and not much other information and sent you on your way.
Maybe you've looked things up online or spoken with a family member or friend who has what you have, but you’re still confused and not sure what YOU need to eat and do to manage your condition...because nobody referred you to a Registered Dietitian.
Until now.
Welcome! I'm Dina R. D'Alessandro, MS, RDN, and I'm here to help you embrace and develop new relationships with food while managing a chronic condition.

As the seasons change and sunlight decreases, many people experience Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a type of depression that typically occurs in the fall and winter months and can also impact eating habits and food choices. I tend to feel over-fatigued and under-motivated, so I try to keep consistent with my routines. DROP A COMMENT: How do you manage SAD?
Alicia…trying to help my parents ..aging…dementia..past personal traumas…couple issues, control…all of which affects their overall daily mood living together. Beginning with their meals…Dominican descent…old farm living. Personally, no medication can help with this.
Oh, no! I'm so sorry about this situation. I can only imagine how challenging and emotional it must be for you. Without getting too personal, or asking you to share anything too private, are you able to get some sort of caregiving support for yourself and them?
Recognizing when emotions, rather than hunger, are driving your food choices is an important first step toward breaking this cycle. By becoming aware of triggers and implementing coping strategies like mindful eating, stress management techniques, and self-compassion, you can better manage both your emotional health and your physical well-being. DROP A COMMENT: How do you reframe negative self-talk?
I’m in a different state this week, but still bring my habits with me wherever I go. DROP A COMMENT: How do you manage your life when you’re not in your usual space?

Like many others, I work out of my home…and sometimes out of the home of others when I’m traveling, like here in NJ when I visit my mom. Wherever I’m set up, I make sure to keep the same systems in place to be productive and organized. I use paper and digital tools, calendars, and checklists. I try to stick to 3 top priorities each day so as not to get too overwhelmed. I set alarms for when I need to eat, check emails, and go outside for a break to keep from getting distracted while I’m in #focus mode. What does your space look like? #EntrepreneurLife #GettingThingsDone #OnTheRoad #RegisteredDietitian #DishWithDina
