I still find it most curious that to date only u.s.a manned space flights have gone beyond leo and a set 12 Americans on the moon well its a out time that all changed i do hope some other nation beats them to the moon this time😮.
Vasily Petrenko conducted the concert so well; a great Elgar Falstaff; full of character, better than Boult! Alexander Malofeev played the Rachmaninov's Paganini Variations with such intensity; with nuance and verve! What a wonderful concert it was!
How I wish what Vasily Eduardovich said about unity within the industry to be true. When something was initiated to change the course of a bad situation, the response was so selfish because the easy way out is the way to go while most who complained a great deal care more about saving face rather than addressing the real issue. In reality, the past year taught me that this industry is not as united as one would like to think, when it comes to self-interest it sometimes much worst than the commerce sector...
What a totally cheapskate channel putting up soundbites a few minutes long. If you are such a high class orchestra where are the whole work or concert videos?
In the South by Elgar is probably my favourite overture. I adore “The Bells” went to a somewhat disappointing performance at the RAH last year. I’m sure Vasily with his expertise in Russian music will do the work full justice. Unfortunately I won’t be in London for this performance, would be great if it was streamed however and available for later listening.
Wonderful performance of what IMO is one of the most beautiful pieces ever written. I have a special personal connection with Delius in that I met and spend time with Eric Fenby at the 1984 Delius Festival in Jacksonville, FL. He told a wonderful story at dinner. He was invited to conduct a Delius choral work which a choir had prepared with the help of their local director. At the rehearsal, Fenby lifted his baton, the singers began and, though they were quite polished, he stopped them. He started them again but then stopped them and asked one to show him the score from which they were reading. The local director had "corrected" Delius' voice leadings which struck him as "mistakes."
