Im with problems with a reaper that stay so close to the bulb zone and i just want to get alien containment aquarium. I have stasis rifle and thermal knife but im SCARED OF IT
brother if you see that a huge wave of aliens are coming your way just don't pick the worse place to set up a defense. go to long zones to set up killzones. use abilities to slow down the aliens and use flares so your guys hit more. also no you can't just leave the zone to avoid fighting or hiding in a room. it is a wave you must fight there isn't a way around it. the only way to not fight the waves is stop getting seen so much.
Loved playing as my first ever rogue, or one of two, in a 2 handed Winifred + Jenny Big Money tag team. So much fun taking them through blind Carcosa run.
Our group play with all investigators except Stella and Kymani. We are christians, and don't want to confuse our kids. We play with Calvin and Daniela though.
There's a more niche/ difficult combo you can do with the rogues with passable access to seeker/ guardian cards (you can use versatile in a pinch) Friends in low places deck manipulation => Get inspiring presence/ perception/ justify the means/ momentum to the top of your deck. Double double written in the stars to get all of them into your discard, then start using trigger man with burglary. Because written in the stars commits those 4 cards from your discard, they are in the "committed" state when perception draws you a card, so they don't get shuffled back into your deck. The horror heal from inspiring presence lets trigger man infinitely soak horror, and you can continue paying for trigger man/ net gain resources off of burglary. Momentum + justify the means means as long as you're at shroud 3 or less, you always automatically pass. (You can always wait there till you manage to written in the stars another set of those two skills, which lets you continue the card draw cycle at shroud 6 or less locations) From there, you can just have any fast cards/ skills to do anything. (Using the fast option on friends in low places lets you fast play cards that you shuffle back into your deck so you can take your pick of which traits to add onto the combo)
for me its more the psychological element of knowing going to certain areas that they could be there and the fact that its the only monster that has really jumpscared me like dont get me wrong warpers can do that too but there is just something about the fact that most of the areas where you meet ther reapers are either very grumsy water the void or anywhere where you more or less can only see like 15 feet or so in front of you
Now mod the game, make everything 100x more aggresive, increase Leviathan spawns and variety across the entire map, make everything do more damage, give yourself a challenge by changing the vanilla game into an absolute nightmare. Job done, you're welcome 😁
Something I really enjoyed about the game was moving to being absolutely terrified to totally relaxed. It's part of learning to live in a new world. You reach a point where you understand the ecosystem and you can live comfortably in it. To me, it added to the immersion.
leviathans are scary cuz they dont attack often and theres always a chance they will jumpscare you, and when they do attack you they leave you alone, building up fear more and more till you just cant. tho this strat is good! definetly follow it.
Btw that quarantine control makes a bit of sense When its "looking" at you its doing 3 things that being 1) scanning you for disease, 2 ) scanning you for sentience, and 3) imposing an intimidating presense in case you are sentient (it moves like a snake, so like a predatory animal it would inspire fear in case you dont comprehend quarantine) Aside from that the needle jab both applies pain (a positive punishment method to deter wrongdoing, like premature quarantine lifts) and also collects DNA samples to study you
Matchbox being printed makes a good argument for a Short Supply Scavenging Deck with Darrell I think. I found Scavenging Darell to be quite good in True Solo already. It's janky, but fun. You can use Forced Learning if you really want to do nonsense.
I think its funny that Alterra still values mined diamonds. By now, they should be growing much better ones in the lab, gold too but at least gold isnt just carbon, lol. Its the alien tech they should be going nuts over
I was driving my sea moth around a group of like 4 to 6 reapers and I was chilling. None of them were attacking me at all and this was after I killed 2 reapers and realized that they aren’t even scary
What about people house rules, are there ways to balance out seekers by for example taking extra basic weaknesses 1, or more? I think the designers should just take 1-3 cycles bringing up the power level of the other classes, big time, and keep seekers getting strictly diversified cards. Give Guardians, Rogues, Survivors and such more specialised cards that seeker cannot do, at all, like shortcut.
Shortcut and mobility should've been Rogue colour pie. Absolutely agree on most all your points, but especially your last few, how Seekers are so homogeneous in cardpool and design that they generally feel boring, or more stake at least when they could be fleshed out much more outside of getting clues.
Once you kill your first Leviathan they stop being scary and start being more of an annoyance. It’s not even that hard: fill up 3/4 of your inventory with gas pods and craft a stasis rifle.
