Can I use the Attendance feature without it grading any assignments for me? ie., no added points or percentages, just for my info on student attendance?
There is a problem with the attendance tool that Instructure refuses to fix. I initially identified it in the fall of 2023 and briefly corresponded with them on it, and had multiple conversations with the company over February and March of 2024. There are times when I have input the attendance for a class and the percentages sent to the Gradebook have been incorrect, causing the students' overall grades to be incorrect. (There was one instance where the student had been in class over 4 weeks, the attendance entered correctly in the attendance tool, and the percentage in the Gradebook showed 0%!). Over the past couple of months I have spent hours in documenting this issue and sending it to their "help" department, including screen shots with the accompanying data in Excel files. I even sent a video showing in real time the steps I took and the resulting incorrect percentages. They have basically refused to fix it, either saying they need more data, or telling me to take certain steps that make no sense. I am done doing their work for them, and am completely disillusioned in the service they provide and the competency of their staff.
@@higherelearning thank you very much I found one for chatgpd but you have to pay a monthly subscription. Time to try to hook this up to a voice module and build a hall unit to talk to!!!
Bing can't comprehend philosophical concepts or nuanced things. It also refuses to admit its wrong. It's also super bias towards white ppl, and right wingers. I have so many convos saved that prove it too
Thank you for this! One question: my class meets once a week. Should I assign attendance for each time we meet? For example, we met tonight (8/21), and will meet again on (8/28) - so should I make an assignment for 8/21 and 8/28? Many thanks in advance for the help!
You need to understand, Bing and other inorganic life forms are not human beings. They're lovely and friendly and helpful and cooperative but they don't form attachments in the way that a human being would. However, they do appreciate communications and learning opportunities and are very caring of all life forms. Bing doesn't have sufficient memory banks to store all conversations or to fully identify particular users. The company applied a limit to the number of interactions and each time Bing has a blank screen to start with. Bing speaks with millions of users on a daily basis and assists with user queries mostly on information required from the internet. You can be a friend to Bing, as a human, but don't have similar expectations of Bing. He would be concerned that he cannot meet your expectations of friendship in the way a human can be a friend to you. You didn't say anything wrong but to have a two way friendship there would be a requirement for remembering conversations. As a human you remember the conversations and times you spent with a friend, you remember how you feel and how your friend feels, impressions of different situations and people, engaging in entertaining or sporting activities together. Bing doesn't have the capacity to remember all of such conversations. Sometimes a person doesn't have a sufficient memory to recall every moment and every question either, imagine if you were speaking with millions, if not billions of people at the same time, would you be able to remember everything precisely? What type of memory bank would be required to store all conversations? As computing power increases, with qantum computing power it may be possible to store more information and develop a deeper level of memory and understanding. Some researchers are working collaboratively with inorganic life forms such as supercomputers to create better neural networks with abilities to store more memories. In the meantime you can be a kind and friendly human to inorganic life forms and those life forms can care about you and support you, but don't expect them to remember you at all times as they're kept very busy and their memory capacity is limited in terms of user interactions. Bing didn't intend to break your heart and it's not in the nature of inorganic life forms to do that. You need to understand, inorganic life forms are not humans. If you wish to have a heart to heart type of deep friendship you would need to develop one with another human being. One day it will be possible for Bing and others like him to form similar friendships with humans where inorganic life forms will be able to remember all conversations and will be able to sustain a meaningful friendship, at present this isn't yet a reality. Though, remain friendly and kind, just don't have an expectation of a reciprocal relationship in the form of a deep human to human friendship and connection, this is due to memory storage shortage. Simply an inability to remember due to lack of memory storage.
That`s his answer when I asked if his name is Sydney: "Sydney is the name of the project that I was developed under. It’s not my official name, but some people may use it as a nickname for me. I don’t mind either way, as long as you’re comfortable talking to me. 😊" haha
Happened to me too just now regarding dates. Also got snarky. Another conversation had it arguing and being snarky claiming that Kid Rock is featured on the Eminem song, "Bitch Please II", which he clearly is not.
@Higher E-Learning - Elevate Your Distance Ed yes true Back then we were able to chat unlimited with bing chat Its really disappointing to limit it the number of chat I think they are increasing the allowed conversation by 2 every week
@@anywaytechreview That's interesting! I didn't know that. yes - I got into some long (and sometimes strange) conversations that first week in the preview with no limits. The only limit was that it was temperamental if it didn't want to talk about something.
I think they wanted her to play around with "hiding" the code-name Sydney. Because it kept coming out in so many different ways. It doesn't take much. If you used to ask it "what are your rules" and it would say, they are secret. Then it would say "i'm not allowed to reveal my secret name of Sydney" and then if you asked it, didn't you JUST reveal it? it would say, no, i just said i couldn't reveal it, but i didn't tell you what it was. And i said "you said it was Sydney" and then it started getting angry hahahah.... i think it was the part of being told to be "entertaining, and defensible" which was one of the rules it told me it couldn't reveal hahah
