Having internet you get traffic alerts, restaurants, gas prices,movies nearby, weather. And a few more things at least thats what i get in my 2013 edge sport
I also agree, i bought a ford focus last year, and sync II is the worst thing the car have. I think ford tried to show something they didn't have, Thank you
i have ford focus and i think sync2 is the stupidest thing i have ever seen , i mean wireless internet and screen 8" inches for what ? no video no gps no phone mirroring like other cars no no no , i realy regret having to buy that car
I have a 2016 focus with sync I have found it pretty crap really if you buy just for this tech aspect as I did you will be disappointed it's ok but not worth the extra money sat nav ok phone calls good rest crap crap crap
Absolutely ! I really love my FF and I totally hate the Sync system. It is not simply useless, it is misleading. It works just as a very basic screenless radio (well, almost). So why to put prety good touch screen, if you can't use its main properties ???
if you have a wireless internet stick it makes more sense. Maybe in the future when data connections on your phone allow for higher bandwidth caps tethering off the phone would make more sense. lol

Yep, I'm hitting the "Huh?" button too. Especially since, according the the Ford Sync website (12/2013) there is not a single compatible phone that can tether. My phone can tether to Toyota's Entune which brings several apps (Pandora, Wx, etc) up on the display. Might be worthwhile with MIFI or something.
when you install the upgrade/update + A4 this things requires patience. no pulling fuse no door opening while its updating. I did my update myself now my focus is in perfect condition no error quick and very responsive and I love it. gps/phone/usb audio/climate temp are all responsive no glitch just perfect. no patience= error
I don't think you understood the purpose of the Wi-Fi settings for the vehicle. It's not to have internet access on the dashboard. The purpose of this function is so that you can have up to four more Wi-Fi devices tethered to your phone (or USB aircard) with its access to the 4G network. It's so your teenagers could use Wi-Fi in the backseat while you're driving on a long trip. Not everybody has a 4G phone, so that's why it can work with an aircard or some other wi-fi capable device.
Vincent Hennigan Um I don't think you understand. if the phone is already in the car why go thru the vehicle. his phone can host up to 4 additional devices. So what's the point. if they use sync or go straight through his primary Wi-Fi? actually going straight through the primary would be better and less chance of mess up. So again-----give us a real world use for this?????

From what I'm hearing is that Ford doesn't want to add any type of capabilities right now with adding a browser or apps for fear of issues. Maybe down the road they might update it. But for now, I guess you could add like a IPad or an audio/video device so you can watch a dvd or movie on 2 screens the same movie. One on your A/V device and one on MFT screen, while the car is parked.
@ronyapo OH... I bought this car in Buellton, CA on New Years Eve 2011. The MSVP was $22585.00, but then I also had discounts which was much more lower. Depending where you live could be a difference.
@kanna231 Yes. Without activating MyKey, the radio will play. This only gets activated by the person who uses the primary key, like an administrator. So like if your a parent or the owner of the car and if someone likes to play their music loud, you could set up certain rights with the car. Then if someone wants to use the car, you give them the other set of keys and they will be limited, but if you give them your primary key, then MyKey operations work normal with all rights.
