3:04 this is actually my exact mindset while watching this show, they almost make Joe sympathetic but then he goes and keeps doing crazy shit and it's like "could you pretty please just be normal for five seconds so I can justify liking this character" 😭
If You is a love story then The Turner Diaries are about someone heroically saving america because the only person who thinks it's those things is the protagonist of the story and other delusional motherfuckers
Any sane person would hate Joe. But wait a minute, did a few from the human species found Bundy and Dahmer attractive? Oh, gee, gimme a sec, I have to go puke. 🤢
You’ll also be surprised by how many women also are attracted to gang members, hitmen, etc. i don’t understand it outside of being attracted to danger to put it loosely…
I understand him Joes a character that you can definitely find charming and flattering to a certain degree but you should always remember that his character is a big walking red flag that no one should ever emulate
he wouldn't be saying this if people WERE NORMAL, AND DIDN'T IDOLIZE JOE. So our King Penn Badgley here has to spell it out for you guys. Joe.is.crazy. Get it now?
If you read the book, Joe in the novel is not even remotely as l friendly-delusional as Joe in the TV version. Joe in the book is utterly unlikeable on every level and I think he knows that is the real joe, not the version he plays on TV. I think he also would like people to not romanticize a fictional killer, as people in this country often do.
"You" as a tv show is really interesting to compare to the original book its based off. From pure market demographics, books are easier to succeed with less consumer readership, so Caroline Kepnes creates a Joe Goldberg that is really gross, frightening and misogynistic, knowing there will be plenty of people that will be invested in seeing what happens to his character. However, tv shows need to appeal to a wide base of people and have higher margins for continued success due to production cost. So you end up with the tv show Joe, who has a whole subplot based around helping his neighbours kid from an abusive guardian and who is obviously played by the extremely attractive Penn Badgley
"I don't wanna please people's feelings anymore, it's exhausting." Yeah, he got that right. My cousin would tell me about this show all the time, and I don't know why, but I kind of just brushed it off because it was on Netflix, and usually i don't watch anything on Netflix, but I FINALLY 😂 started watching it... i got say, it definitely can draw someone in. I'm currently, at this very moment, watching season 1 episode 4.
joe goldberg (me) is literally the perfect boyfriend i swear to god, there is NOTHING that he would not do for love, almost nothing he hasnt done, what more can you ask for?
Thank you for all the views on this video. I've just uploaded a new Penn Badgley video if anyone would like to check it out :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8jmyYp05pX4.html
I love that he hates Joe. Good 👏. Joe is an obsessive stalker who murders his girlfriends when they try to leave him. It just shows that PB isn't a complete asshole. Like, can you imagine if he LOOKED UP TO Joe? 🚩🚩🚩
I always saying to Him "No Joe you can change please don't do this again" and guess what he does it again I just love you see people turn there life around and I like to understand people and why do things so thats why I love this show
I find it amusing how often he brings up smells in interviews. Something usually not considered polite conversation, but Kit just goes for it lmao. When talking about Bash he mentions how nice he smelled. When asked about kissing scenes he comments how Joe's breath always reaks of coffee 😂
I think part of the problem is they chose an aesthetically pleasing actor to play Joe. I never really pictured Joe as that attractive when I read the book. He was average at best to me if that.
I never once considered Joe a good person. Ever. I was interested in psychology the same way I watched criminal minds. I really want him to get killed at the end of the series. I stopped watching in season 4 because I'm just kind of sick- I pretty much just watched to see if Love would survive or not. Personally, I think it should have ended in season 3, with Love killing him. It would have been the complete circle and karma.
