The Gt4 models of these have the SR20det with a all time awd drive system. Super fun, have one as my project car in NZ. Beware of room seam seal issues. They crack and fail overtime which results in rusting out the rear hatch bolts and seals. Very common issue in these wagons. To remedy, remove headliner, roof rails and reseam seal the previous seam seal. If rusted out under the hatch bolts, the rear hatch structure will need to be rebuilt.

Not sure if you know, but in the United States, cars need to be 25 years old to be imported, and I can’t speak for everyone, but it is most cost-effective to bring in very clean stuff. With economical cars like this, most of the cost is shipping and customs anyway, so it doesn’t make sense to bring in something that needs work…this one is pretty close to museum grade. I’m sure whoever buys it will appreciate what you said as they keep it running throughout the years
@@pellacars Yep which is why Avenirs are going up in price. last year nzd they were 12-15k for a gt4. now its 30k bc the americans are getting them now. Not saying that this Avenir has this issue, but its a very common issue just like how the skylines and silvias have bad rust issues.
@@draz8302I’m surprised they are popular here. Most people seem to want luxury or sport, not utilitarian. Which is a shame cause so many “regular” cars of Japan are great. Had a Carina and loved it
There is no way for us to ever know if a car is an oil burner, simply because we do not keep them long enough, but it is not low on oil and the oil is not dark. All of our cars get an oil change (full synthetic) before they leave Transmission is perfect, throttlebody is clean, battery is going to be replaced when it is picked up, as I have one sitting in there that was “on the shelf” sensors are all functioning properly, and spark plugs were replaced when the valve cover gaskets were done. I own a 2007 Toyota Prius. Had it about one month so I’m still new. What do you mean by the battery needs to be replaced on the tire pressure measuring system? I didn’t know it was battery operated. Please help me out.
Hello! This is me, but from my main channel. Inside each of your wheels is a sensor that has a battery inside. Those sensors could be had for as little as $40 for a set of four on Amazon, but the problem is, the tire needs to be partially taken off the rim to install them, and then the car needs to be reprogrammed to the new sensors unique serial number. I have those tools because I own the small car dealership, but the average person would find it counterintuitive to buy all that equipment just to keep their own tire pressure light off. Toyota, if that light blinks several times when you start the car, it means an error with that system, and on a car this age, likely a dead battery. Probably not what you were looking to hear, and I’m sorry, but you’ll likely have to have those sensors replaced. Most shops charge at least $100 an hour because of the massive overhead to be in business nowadays, so if you buy a set of new sensors, plan on about another 150 bucks at least to have them installed and programmed
Japanese folks also obsessively maintain their cars - we only buy the highest rated units with zero issues and up to date maintenance. We’ve yet to see a JDM that doesn’t perform like a 1-2 year old US car There is a MASSIVE amount of factors - namely cultural - that go into this. We once imported a Nissan with 23,000 miles that had had its timing belt and all other 100,000 mile service done that year. It’s actually the opposite - a 300,000 mile JDM is likely in better condition than a 150,000 USA car

Strangely I know how to send a car to Japan or Nigeria or Australia or whatever, but that’s via port and the buyer arranges shipping to their door. I'd like to see a printout of an OBD scan + a print copy of a recent wheel alignment. When the air conditioner is "on" what temperature is the air at the air output vents on the dashboard? Is there a jack & a donut back in the trunk?
