To my ears: Heckel is more open. Clearer tone. Bell is darker, a bit more resistant but somewhat more mellow. In MIgnone and Tchaikovsky I liked Bell the most. Everything else Heckel. But, same category of instrument IMO.
Love this! ❤ The bassoon, and saxaphone (I use to play it, myself) have such gorgeous guttural, bellowing sound that I also love hearing in the double bass and bass viola da gamba, tuba and lute-harpsichord.
I love your take on this, but I am curious: Have you ever listened to a violinist play this? Your interpretation of timing and phrasing is just so different from anything else I’ve heard! As a flutist and violinist I’ve heard many many interpretations so I’m curious! No hate intended I’m just wondering where you drew your inspiration. :)
