Another country that believed western powers. Now just history. Learn history lessons. Most of the western countries made agreements with ottoman empire long time before the emperor died. They could help but it was not profitable.
The phalanx / shield was wass never outdated till plate armour and halbeart / pike blocks became a thing. The romans themselves readopted the phalanx, tho with a different configuartion in the end but still

My brothers. Read 1453 by Roger Crowley. Powerful and fantastic book about the fall of Constantinople. He truly went out fighting and dying in the streets with his soldiers. A brave lion indeed.
Bro as a Hungarian it is only me who recognises the crown the guy wears is the Hungarian Holy Crown bruh if you hungarian/recognised it/just sad about the fall of Byzantium like👇
This crown was a gift by one of the Emperor's of the (Eastern) Roman Empire and it has this Byzantine type of style and it's very distinguished, that is why I believe they use it whenever they talk about us. God bless.
This is f-cking bullshit. If you want to know the facts, the Crusader armies that came to fight the Ottomans sacked Constantinople before the Ottomans did.
As a historian, What we know as recorded by ancient historians are these facts: He got married 3 times, with 2 sons , with strong FRIENDSHIP with HEPHAESTION. Fullstop.period. There is nothing recorded for Alexander being gay, Never- Ever. Will Netflix show Alexander making love with his 3 wives also? Or they are interested only for gayish-woke agenda false scenarios? Netflix failed again
@@ji8044 there’s no evidence of that, literally none. Modern scholars working for captured institutions pushing a social agenda try to say everyone of note was gay.

I'm watching it currently. They've made all the men emotionally weak and ofc made the roles of the women far larger than they were. I've always enjoyed history, especially historical warfare and I've never once heard of Darius' wife's name before, not Alexandra mother. I'm no academic but I've the sense their roles were exaggerated. I'm surprised there weren't more a holes getting blown out. No doubt they had to portray Alexander as a man who enjoys partying in the occasional but hole
I believe you are right at some points. While Olympias, Alexander's mother was a powerful woman, it was still unsure about Darius' wife. As a documentary series, this is ridiculous as not giving proper historical evidences
This is one of the shittiest part of the whole series tbh. It looks like straight out of Game of Thrones. As a series labelled "documentary" featuring "historian" commentaries, that part is totally ridiculous

Here's what I expect from Netflix at their next documentary: Queen Elizabeth the first, being a fairy who opened the door to Narnia and actually destroying it using the elder's wand, before time travel to marry Nefertiti. Sorry, i just saw the film and my brain has started doing nuclear fusion...
@@lukewykman Well, they wasted no time making him overtly gay/bi when there is no evidence to suggest he was. We do know he married three times, however. The obvious implication is he was straight. But historical accuracy loses to woke propaganda every time unfortunately
@@lukewykman maybe he meant woke by the way the series blatantly portrayed Alexander and Hephaistion as in openly sexual relationship, while this is still debated. Also the Persian Queen looked considerably too 'feminists' for some people. The historians in the series said that women in Ancient Persia are not so quiet, they were capable of making decision, owning lands etc. (Idk I haven't read the sources for this, so I won't argue if they are right or wrong). Just summed it up. Maybe that's what Brad thought was woke.
@@politicallyincorrect2564 He apparently was heterochromatic tho...? Also, accounts of his hair colour vary depending on the source but he most likely had light brown/dark blonde hair...
Even with all its flaws it was still enjoyable for me. The only thing they didn’t do is go into detail about Alexander’s Phalanx. That’s one of the major reasons he destroyed Darius huge army and they barely even mentioned it. I think I only heard the word Phalanx mentioned once.
