I came here after the Miami Condo disaster to find out about spalling. I have no plans to repair any but I found this video fascinating and instructive. 👍 I will stop on the highway and make sure the repair team are following these instructions correctly.... 🤣
What about the linear drain (polymer concrete drainage channel and kerbs) applied to the road side drainage system but not only the french drain and etc? Thank you for sharing. Kind Regards. Kevin
I appreciated the making of this video which includes not only mainly on importance of road drainage but also road repair and maintenance. This video included statement also concerning environmental impact that might follow after the maintenance or repair.
As I understand it many DOTs are using Cemental rapidset repair material today, you need no epoxy either in the saw cuts or on the surfaces as it self bonds and can go from a feather edge to six inches and can easily be force into narrow places. It is ready for traffic in just an hour possessing 3000 psi strength and 9000 in twenty eight days.
I used to do this work back in 2008 and we used Methacrylate and sand to repair the spalls. If the they were in bridge the whole bridge would be metal bead blasted, and the air blown. If it was on freeway, then I was to measure them, mark/ cut the spalls, chip them out, clean the holes, pick up debris, and patch them with methacrylate and sand. Sometimes depending on Caltrans we would do anti skids with methacrylate and sand. Awesome work I miss it so much.
