Thank god I checked this on RU-vid.. I’m trying to build a mini gig/convenient rig aside from my Classic JR but didn’t know nano+ could only handle 4 pedals without a PSU 😮
I'm just starting with the Alter experience....nice tutorial...but how u clean the backside afterwards or anyway how u clean messed up lines(in the Text box or wherever u actually don't want paint)???😊😊
Learned a lot from this video. I’ve always wanted to get into painting but been too intimidated. Been altering some cards lately and it’s really fun, thanks for the tips!
Thats awesome I am planning on altering some tokens so it is actually really helpful to see someone do this. Thank you! I know this has been 4 years but if you happen so see this comment, would you be so kind to tell me if you use any kind of acrilycs fixation spray on the finished card, so the paint wont be scraped off later? Do you use that on your finished altered cards? Thank you and well done on this one!
It looks like you are using pretty small amounts of water, is it only for cleaning the brusa or do you ever thin the paint? Im a bit frustrated by how quickly the paint dries on the pallet when im painting. You dont seem to have any issues with this. How Come? Am i missing anything? I know this video is 4 years old, but im feeling Lucky:)
Never too late! If you want the paint to dry slower, try some slow-dry mediums for acrylics. Some can make change the aspects of your paint a little bit, like more glossy or more matte, and sometimes mediums can be a bit sticky on the cards. But get yourself some quality slowdry medium from a proper art store and you should be good. Plus, sometimes mediums look expensive but one bottle of medium usually lasts a long time since you only need very little doses of it. Thanks for checking out the channel and good luck painting!
I just started going down the pedal rabbit hole after years of using multi-effects pedals and I bought the Nano+ yesterday. I wasn’t sure what the best way to add the Velcro would be and your video helped a lot, thanks! One of my pedals is a beast though (RAT2) and the feet are too tall to use the Velcro, and they hold the unit together so I can’t just remove them, I’ll come up with something 😅
Hi, Im the subscriber from Russia. (Раньше часто комментировал твои видео.) I watched you when you drew little pictures (they are very beautiful) Well, the situation in the world is not the calmest, but I am glad that you continue your creativity. The last couple of years have been very interesting and eventful. While writing this comment, I realized that my English level has become worse. But that's okay.) You are good at playing the guitar, I wish you success and further advancement in music. Мне скоро исполнится 17 лет, а познакомился я с тобой, когда мне было всего 14. Спасибо за творчество!
This is acrylic. You could use oils but you'd need a pretty good varnish after since oils are so sticky. I find acrylics stay thinner and are easier to avoid a sticky finish.
I remember making a forest and a swamp alter as a kid and looking back at them.. they are pretty atrocious. Kind of want to make some new alters to see how they go now and this is a really informative video that is super helpful! Might even step it up to some real cards rather than just basic lands aha
Heya! The back is fine, it got a few smudges on it during the process but a moist brush cleans it up. If you want a cleaner way of doing it you can gently tape the backside edges to a piece of cardboard and you should be good to go :)
Hello , i have a Aclam pedalboard,no Velcro needed. I have 10 pedals on it. Mxr dynacomp, mxr phase 90,Ibanez tubescreamer 808 and Boss dd8, TC Electronic hall of fame are free of the pedals on it.
Two years ago on a trip to New Zealand we also had the privilege to visit Andrew in his studio just before it opened. ( He saw us peering through the window and kindly invited us in!) We found him to be extraordinarily generous with his time to a very amateurish painter. To see his paintings in real life took my breath away. What a gentleman. What an artist.
I've bought 3 of them already. As good as (or better) than the Earthquaker Devices "Acapulco Gold", and way cheaper. They even sell the kit with the optional pre-drilled box. If you're not afraid of soldering and drilling, you've got a cheap , damn good pedal.
It's a great deal for sure! Great pedal for 20% of the price of the original, and with only 10 parts to solder (excluding wiring), makes for a great pedal for first time builders!
absolutely true, if only people knows what pedal effects really are and what's inside (the enclosure is probably the most expansive part by far), they'd reckon all the "boutique pedals" affair is one of the biggest scam of em all :D
Hello it’s John Avon. Just found this and honoured your painting the forest. And such a happy ‘up’ approach. Sooo I did all the background with airbrush. And the trees are masked then airbrushed again. Then, I go in with the brushes. But! I love your painters approach and looking great.
Hey John! Thanks so much for the kind words and a little "behind the scenes" info on the original works! Been keeping up with you on instagram, as always super inspiring! It's such an honour to have you find this video and taking the time to comment, really made my day :) Wishing you all the best and health and happiness for the holidays and the new year!
it's kinda funny from like 20 mins on watching you work so hard on it and talk abt how it's so imperfect because like... it's already 100% perfect from what we can see in the vid
Thanks! Hope the videos help you get going. Haven't sold any in ages and it really depends on how long I've spent working on them. Usually I try for 15-20 for a border extension and 20-30 for a full art covering the texbox. But that waws before covid and even before borderless editions in packs. I've noticed the demand for alters really dropping since there's been so many variations just available from packs now. Don't let it discourage you though, it's great fun, colour mixing is a great skill to have for painters in general and depending on your LGS crew you might get tons of demand!
