It’s part of the storyline… In the story, he’s on the run from the police, for 2 murders… They know he’s an ardent Liverpool fan, and goes to every match, home and away…and are certain that he’ll be at this game (Man Utd v Liverpool at Old Trafford) The detectives involved in trying to catch him, have their cctv cameras, scouring the away end, where the Liverpool supporters are, to try to find him, they haven’t publicised that they are trying to catch him, as that would mean he wouldn’t go to the game… but, when they scan through the away end, they can’t find him anywhere…so almost give up, thinking he hasn’t gone to the game… What they don’t yet realise, is that he is in fact at the game, but is actually amongst the Man Utd fans…the one place where they don’t have their cctv cameras… As one of the detectives, leaves the cctv room for a cigarette break near the home fans exit, and convinced they have wasted their time, totally by chance, he walks past him, being escorted out of the stadium, by the match stewards and local Police (unaware that he’s wanted for 2 murders)…for being an away fan in the home end… This was back when you could turn up at a match, and buy a standing ticket, on the day of the match… Segregation was big back then, but, at the same time, it was at that time, possible, to turn up at a match before kick-off, and pay by cash, and as long as you weren’t wearing anything showing your club colours, an away fan could in fact get into the home end…though, back then, doing that was far more dangerous than it is today.. I’d recommend to watch this particular series of the tv series this is from, it’s called “Cracker”…
Just watched Cracker, S2, Ep . 3. With all of the unrest in this once ' Great' Britain, this episode was way before it's time. Watch the part where Fitz interviews Albie near the end....
That game at Maine Road, Gazza was awful. After trying to wind up the legend, Paul Lake, the City fans started making crying sounds and rubbing their eyes in reference to Gazza crying at the world cup. The bully couldn't cope with the bullying and even asked the referee to stop the game and to stop the fans from taunting him. And, of course, the City fans got even louder. Gazza was booked, almost sent off, and had a poor game. I like Gazza but don't try to taunt and bully if you can't cope with it in return. MCFC OK
RIP to Johnny Leeze. Great actor. Liverpool fan here, and can imagine if this was real life Robert Carlisle would've be in a very good state after doing that in Old Trafford, but love the humour in it as well. 'Robbin' scouse bastard' always cracks me up 🤣Always wondered about the 'Come on you reds!' also, but Liverpool are still the reds even in the away kit 😅Wish we had more tv like this nowadays instead of the snowflake stuff 👍
