Thanks for the video Chris! Great to see some creative ways that you’re able to use Magic Mask. The Magic Mask tool is so good, it saved me on my last RU-vid video. It allowed me to adjust the levels on my background to be more consistent with the changing light during my shoot.
Thanks for watching! Would love to hear your ideas on how to use the magic mask or any questions you might have. Let’s talk about it, I’m learning as well!
Hello, how can do the same thing but with cuts in our edit ? If I have small jump cuts and the second clip is almost the same as the first one, do I have to paint a mask again?
Hi! Good question. Yes, either redo the mask for each little clip or create the effect on the entire take, make it into a new compound clip in the timeline and then create your jump cuts. I think that should work too, but it's just a spontaneous idea.
Hi Chris. I follow you but I wonder...why you don't have more views??? The camera loves you, the quality is great... interesting... There is no reason. Give me your opinion pls. Maybe because you are in Sweden!!! just keep going. Do you have your own company in Gothenburg? / Vlad
@@vladimir.a.3579 Thank you very much for this kind comment! I really appreciate it! I think I just need to upload more often, slowly but surely haha. Yes, I do have my own company. ☺️ Thank you so much for watching! 🙏
Hello, I'm Nilton, from Brazil, even though I don't know much about English, I learned a lot in this video, congratulations and keep contributing with ours.
Love your style! I get where the other guys are coming from, but if you can listen to them while keeping this style of videography I feel like you'll get very, very far!
Personally I prefer using a real hazer whenever possible, but this is a great way to create some light rays in post to create a similar effect. Let me know if you find this useful! 😏
Thank you very much, I appreciate that! Ooh, that’s a good question. I don’t think I have enough knowledge of what’s out there at the moment to be able to give a good answer. But any camera is a good place to start. I still see old images of mine sell from time to time that were taken on some super cheap point and shoot camera. If you can nail exposure, composition and a good subject, the camera and pixel count matter a lot less.
Sure thing! I relatively recently decided to upgrade to a Mac Studio, so I went all in and maxed out everything except hard drive space. Don’t have all the details in front of me, but it was the M2 Ultra with the top specs you could order at the time, in January sometime this year. Very happy with everything (except the price tag haha).
literally had no clue how to get it diagonal and get the line and have words and you just saved me so much time that I thought I had to put in. Thank you!!!!!!
Hmm, skumt… Skulle kunna bero på att inte masken är markerad i din timeline när du klickar in dig där. Alternativt att tracker-fönstret fått sig en uppdatering. 🤔 Ska ta en kik nästa gång jag öppnar After Effects!
Can you explain lens blur vs defocus mode . But when i was trying to add blur to a clip there was edge blur with the effect i couldn't help . How to solve in davinci 18
Yeah, I think that is the big difference between Lens Blur and Defocus. LB will blend the foreground (the mask) into the blur, while Defocus doesn't. So you'll get a clean edge, without any edge blur with Defocus.
You probably could change the pitch or sound of the voice in AE, but it’s not very comfortable working with sound in AE. I would change the voice when editing the video within DaVinci or Premiere. Try adjusting the pitch and see what that does. Not that big on editing audio effects I’m afraid. 🙈
Interesting, I’ve never exported individual clips with added sound or music to be honest.. Have a look under the audio tab on the deliver page and make sure it’s using all your tracks in the export. Hopefully that does it! 🤞
@@chrisjohnsson Panel Discussion: Visual Effects for Avatar: The Last Airbender. Thats the title of the video, interesting stuff. full disclosure, I haven't watched the whole video yet myself. hehehe
Will have to give that a try! The depth map in DaVinci is so useful and versatile. I’m slowly trying to learn more Fusion and take a little step back from After Effects.
Subtlety is definitely the key when using this to blur any background, so don't go as extreme as I do in the intro or on the sunset clip. Let me know if you end up using this effect!
Only one minute and a half before we jump into DaVinci Resolve in this video, I think that's a new record for me, shortest intro so far. 🙈😉 Hope you find some use out of annotations as well, I know I will keep using it.
It looks to me like in a natural setting that there is a lot of light on her face and anybody reading might lie on the bed as to get that light on the book. So to me it would look more natural to keep the light on that bed background but without the vignette to catch the light that looks like it should be coming from a light source from above the girl. A light over the bed would explain the key on her face and the light that would be hitting the pages. The way it is staged without visualizing a light from above - her head would be blocking the light to the pages and in most cases, people wouldn't do that naturally.
can you talk about video editing and stay on a still image all long? the most interesting part would be to see the video, not the still image. I know it's long to render but come on !
