I know in the past an Outlook calendar could link and sync to a SharePoint calendar. It's like that option got removed. I'm trying to sync an Outlook calendar to SharePoint and having the most difficult time figuring out how to sync.

But the way a lot of project teams work is that only part of the team needs to actualy meet to discuss specific point. But the whole team needs to have access to entire project database but not everyone from the team is nececary to join each meeting. Especialy if you have a large project team of 10s of people, that would not be feasible..
@buckleyplanet
@buckleyplanet 17 дней назад
Completely understand and agree. We're talking about how the technology works by default. For those conversations and meetings that need to happen with a smaller group of team members, use a private chat and schedule meetings using Outlook, respectively. In both cases, invite people individually rather than use the Group/Team name or DL. If you schedule items on the shared Calendar in Teams, everyone with access will receive the invite.

You completely ignored the point of the question. It does not "depend" on what the policy is; we know exactly what the policy is: The error explicitly states that the "policy" is that the message requires moderation (for whatever reason; it doesn't matter), and that somehow M365 Exchange is considering this *in itself* to be a failure-- which is *wrong.* When you use M365 Exchange's own UI and template to set up a 'moderation' transport rule, and then Exchange receives a message that matches the rule's criteria, Exchange is immediately *failing* to deliver the message (as shown in the error) instead of providing the message to the moderator for approval, meanwhile *holding* the message.
@halhostetler9069
@halhostetler9069 2 месяца назад
So, I'm going to drop the word, Policy. In this case, a transport rule appears to have been matched and that transport rule appears to be written to send the triggering email to moderation. Is this an error? I don't know since I have neither the rule (if it exists) nor the Exchange Server to examine. Nowhere does the poster say that the message wasn't sent to moderation, nor does he say Exchange by itself rejected any moderation approval and stopped the message, nor does he say that no transport rule exists, nor does he say that HE is the moderator and the emails never got to him for disposition. What he says is a USER reported not getting emails and the "error" code he found is a message we would expect to see from a matched moderation transport rule. We are left to GUESS whether or not such a transport rule exists, whether or not said emails made it to a moderator, and what that moderator's disposition might have been. If he had stated that there is no such transport rule, or moderation was approved and still no delivery, then we can MAYBE assume an Exchange error. Anything more than that depends on information we do not have. If it, indeed IS an Exchange error, it is Support Ticket time; putting incomplete data out on the Internet for folks to GUESS at is probably not the best method of solving such a mail flow issue...

Hi. Is there a way so that CoPilot might use my pdfs to produce summaries, answer questions about them, etc...But at the same time not using these pdf content to produce answers to other CoPilot Users. My pdfs have sensible information which I'm not allowed to share with 3rd parties...Thanks for your answer and time.
@buckleyplanet
@buckleyplanet 2 месяца назад
Yes. You'd need to create a new SharePoint Online site for only you, or whomever else has that restricted access, and then load your PDFs into the related library, and then create a Copilot for that new SPO site. Here's a demo video: www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-copilot/blog/copilot-studio/deploy-a-custom-copilot-to-sharepoint-with-a-seamless-single-sign-on-experience/

@buckleyplanet
@buckleyplanet 2 месяца назад
Well, as we do not have the ability to ask follow up questions such as whether there is a decision tree with nested questions, which would answer this question, we have to speculate on many different scenarios that may cause this problem. THAT is why it is a 10 minute video, and not a 20-second answer. In this series, we try to cover the many different possible causes of any question.

You all seemed to pooh pooh the OOTB Move To/Copy To. For one Team to another that doesn’t seem to be a bad choice at all. What am I missing?
@buckleyplanet
@buckleyplanet 2 месяца назад
I don't think we were pooh poohing the native move feature at all - depending on the volume of content and the complexity of the structure. The most effective, cost-efficient method is always to have the owners of the content move it. As you add more complexity - admin moving things rather than content owners, deciding what to be moved or not moved, re-classifying and labeling, moving into totally different site/team/folder structure, having a tools that can automate becomes more necessary. Could you still do all of that through move and scripting? Sure. Do you have the time and knowledge to do it right? It's up to you.

I just wanted to understand why hide the options? Why make everything so difficult? I can't see the calendars of shared mailboxes, there is no place in the world that says how this is done in NEW OUTLOOK 2024. Thank you Microsoft!
@halhostetler9069
@halhostetler9069 3 месяца назад
It is likely not yet implemented. Outlook New is not now and will not be a supported replacement for Classic Desktop Outlook until at least 2029, 5 years hence. It is Preview software and a work in progress. It should only be considered test software in business/mission critical environments.

Yeah, great, only I can demonstrate that this is showing all of my users different files that haven't been shared with them or teams they are in. Even to the point where I have one user who has a file showing that he's shared it, but it doesn't belong to him, it belongs to a team he is not in - not only can you see that in permissions, EVERY and I do mean EVERY user can see and open that file. Like every Microsoft feature/fucntion/product this has not been tested properly at all. Saying "oh but it wants you to get things quickly and easily" is a B.S. excuse. Privacy by design - i.e. the permissions should default to not allowing anyone in. NOT a partially open door that requires spending a large amount of time to close. .... FYI we have sensitivity labels in place, and it doesn't make any difference. - Why do you think so many people are trying to turn this off? This video is nothing more than a massive cop out.
@buckleyplanet
@buckleyplanet 3 месяца назад
Without troubleshooting your specific environment, I'll stand by the default statement that "SharePoint (and therefore Delve) will not show content that people don't have permissions to see." When people are seeing content that they shouldn't, it means there is a breakdown in permissions management somewhere in your environment. And I completely disagree with you that the default should be a locked down environment. Show me a locked down environment and I'll show you a system nobody uses. Good collaboration requires thoughtful information architecture and ongoing governance.

Wow...what a great question! Yup...Microsoft needs to put a development team around calendars. It's a huge aspect of "Collaboration". So, Microsoft Teams was a game changer...but it has always lacked good calendaring. I agree with all of you...Calendar should be a separate service that you can pull up from any M365 appsjust like file sharing.

The problem about restoring these deleted site is that the Group is retained in a Recycling Bin for 30 days whereas the site is retained within SP Recycling Bin for 90 days. If you are past the 30 day mark you can still recover the site, however the group itself will be gone, thus everything associated with the group such as Teams,Planner,Whiteboard etc.

hello, thanks for this explanation - in our small company team, we also have this issue - we use different public folders contact & calendar sub-folders as a team-wide resource and now half the team cannot access those. It really is a problem, we would like to deploy the new outlook for everyone, but as long as we cannot access these contact and calendar subfolders, we cannot work properly. Is there any hint, Microsoft is going to implement that soon?

While this is correct within context of the Admin Portal, it isn't correct overall. You can grant read only access to a shared mailbox by opening the shared mailbox in web mail (as an owner) and giving read only access to folders like you would with your own mailbox.

This also happens if a user 'Sync's' a whole SharePoint Library to their local device using OneDrive and then deletes it from the local device without first disabling the Sync. Where I have an issue with this is there is no record in the Audit log of which user instigated the deletion process as the delete action is carried out on local files on a local device by a local user and then replicated by the AAD Sync process.

Sooooooooo.. if you delete a group.. (and you really don't know wich one..) this AAD cames and delete your entire Sharepoint site. And.. you even doesn't know with group caused this. Well.. that's exactly what happened to one my clients 2 days ago. We don't know witch group deleted one of our power-users.. we just know that she was the one that deleted it.. and this AAD came running down the street with the axe in the hand and.. pop! No Sharepoint for u. Great that was a "recover" option to use.. and in a question of hours was up again.. but.. now i fear if someone deletes one group.

Yes, the UI-based "Move to" function works in many cases, but there really should be something like the SharePoint Migration Tool that allows mass-migration of content from one site to another, or even one library to another. The ubiquity or Team/Group sprawl leads to a LOT of scenarios where content from multiple sites needs to be collected or aggregated into one. Sometimes leaving it where it is and adding a hub site can do the job ("virtual aggregation"), but not always, and the very concept of hub sites is hard to sell people on.

When a user's mailbox gets converted to a shared mailbox the account will exist as both a shared mailbox and as user account. You can remove the license from the User account because all mail is now owned by the Shared Mailbox. However, you cannot delete the actual user account itself. This is because the User account serves as an anchor for the Shared Mailbox.

Perla, this is not a walkthrough series. We answered the question: If you create the meeting through outlook, you can add the dial in details manually. If you want it automatically included through Teams invites, you must have the right licenses and then have your admin enable them AND establish the telephony details. You're right that Microsoft's documentation on this topic sucks. In fact, its a circular link, with two articles that refer to each other -- and neither provides the walkthrough you're hoping for. Hopefully this helps: IF you are the admin, go into Teams Admin Center > Meetings > Audio Conferencing to see your related policies. Click on your Global (Org-wide default) policy. From here you can add toll or toll-free numbers within your meeting invites, set/reset your PIN, and establish a default number for your team/org.

@@buckleyplanet Thank you for the clearer explanation that did not take 6 minutes. This is so typical of everything Microsoft and Teams, making things much more complicated to figure out than they should be. Why not just include a phone option, like Zoom and everyone else? Or if it's a revenue add-on, why not make it easy to find? (Why make it so hard for someone who wants to give you more money?) I've learned the hard way that if you want to humiliate someone outside of your organization, and make them feel really stupid and bad about themselves, tell them to join you on a Teams meeting. The frustrations are never-ending. More than one organization I work with who had switched to Teams has had to re-enable their Zoom account, due to constant issues with customers, investors, and others they need to keep happy, who were unable or had difficulties joining Teams meetings.
