I've always loved this movie. Top 10 stuff. It just works somehow. Now, this can be troublesome when it comes to explaining it when someone walks in while I'm singing this song as I'm making a sandwich.
I loved this as a kid, but as an adult am deeply uncomfortable with a child singing a song about essentially prostitution, or at the very least with very overt sexual overtones “You don’t have to be lonely. Come and see Tallulah, we can chase your troubles away” “No one south of heaven will treat you finer, Tallulah had her training in North Carolina” 🤮
When we were kids, we thought this song was hilarious. My brother would make up stupid lyrics for it. This song actually doesn't work very well if you happen to know that Jodie Foster has had a relatively deep voice since she was very young. That high a voice just doesn't sound right coming out of Jodie Foster.
OUR DAUGHTER BECAME A THESPIAN STARTING IN 7TH GR WHEN HER SCHOOL PERFORMED THIS PLAY IN THE LATE 90'S. WELL, MY BOSS FROM BROOKLYN KNEW SCOTT WHEN HE WAS A LITTLE KID B/C MY BOSS WAS FRIENDS WITH SCOTT'S OLDER BROTHER. MY BOSS WAS IN HIS HOME OFTEN GROWING UP AND HE WAS SUPPOSE TO COME TO MY DAUGHTER'S DRAMA CLASS TO OFFER A TRUE BROOKLYNN ACCENT AND SHARE HIS STORIES ON SCOTT; ALAS HE COULDN'T MAKE IT. BUT IT WAS COOL ANYWAY.
I always hated this movie as a kid. Now I am older it still isn’t my thing, but I totally appreciate how genius and interesting it is to have children playing adults, a totally unique and original idea.
My name is tallulah My name is tallulah My first rule of thumb I don't say were I'm going Or where I'm coming from I try to leave a little reputation behind me So if you really need to You'll know how to find me I live till I die I'll take what you give me And I won't ask why I have a lot of freinds In some exotic places I don't remember names But I remember faces Lonely You don't have to be lonely Come and see Tallulah She'll chase your troubles away (oh) If your lonely You don't have to be lonely When they talk about Tallulah You know what they say Know what south of heaven's gonna treat you finer Tallulah had her training in North Carolina My name is tallulah My first rule of thumb I don't say were I'm going Or where I'm coming from I try to leave a little reputation behind me So if you really need to You'll know how to find me
i just want to ask, what is the girl in the purple dress called?it's not in this scene but in the movie when she asks blousy how the purple dress suited her or not
This movie was dammed near the X and the Y for the breakup of Pink Floyd. Roger Waters HATED this film and was PISSED that this director, Allan Parker, was slayed to direct Pink Floyd The Wall...
Have not seen the film in 40+ years but still know every word to this song. Probably because back in the day Bugsy Malone was on heavy rotation on HBO. That was when HBO was only showing one movie at a time. You would actually get an HBO guide that showed the schedule of what they were playing. Now I feel old
1976, Jody Foster appeared in Freaky Friday, The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane, Bugsy Malone, and some other movie, what was it called? Oh, it was Taxi Driver. Talk about a good year. They filmed this in the summer of 1975, Jody was 12, going on 13. I didn't see this one until the 80s on cable, same with Taxi Driver (I'm the same age as Jody, and was too young to go see Taxi Driver). Jody is the best actor from those born in 1962, which includes most of the brat pack (Emilio Esteves, Allie Sheedy, Demi Moore, Andrew McCarthy) and Tom Cruise (not sure if he was a brat packer or not). The first evening TV show I remember watching was the courtship of Eddie's Father (somewhere around 1969-1970?) with bill Bixby, Jody was on a few of the episodes, and she had one off appearances in a lot of shows, so she was a familiar face. She was in a musical movie version of Tom Sawyer with Johnnie Whitaker (that our school took us to see in a daytime showing during school!), and a TV version of Paper Moon that was cancelled after half a season (she played the Tatum O'Neil role). Then 1976 happened. She is still going strong in 2024, just saw her in True Detective! I read that the Trudi Frazer character in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was somewhat based on young Jody Foster.
