As I write this it has been about 2 weeks since we lost Bill Anders. I was watching an interview Valerie Anders gave several years ago. She talked about the dangers these husbands faced but then spoke of where Bill most likely would have been had he not been selected for Apollo. I know what finally happened to Ed White's wife. I also know that 3 of the 6 surviving Original 7 were divorced. Of the 7 survivors of the next 9, 5 were divorced. When it comes to danger I can name the names of 5 women who lost Fighter Pilot husbands. 2 in Vietnam and one still alive from Korea. The only difference between these ladies and those 3 wives is when their husbands met their fate it was VERY public. There are two of these ladies I have ZERO respect for. One's big mouth ended any chances of her husband getting a mission after his first and only mission.
I was 13 when her sister aircraft G-BOAC (Number 204) flew from Cardiff Airport for the last time in October 2003. Yesterday 17th May 2024 I stepped on G-BOAF (Number 216) at Aerospace Bristol. Was amazing to see the Aircraft after 21 years and she still looked beautiful brought back so many memories of her last flights before they went to their final places❤ there will never be another Aircraft like her.... she was the true "Queen of the skies "❤
My dad got the opportunity to fly the supersonic beauty, he would tell me the stories about how fast he felt and how high it went.... my dream to fly one never will be true
Great video, we were on this flight too (seats 14C and D). It’s sad that she’s not still flying - it’s quite scary that this, the last Concorde BA001, was more than 20 years ago, now, it still feels like it was only a short time ago and still makes my heart race remembering it…
British Airways are the reason this Beautiful Plane will never fly again. there were tests done on it, where it was powered up again and was in fantastic shape. BA shut it down they. hate Concorde they never wanted it. they are a disgrace as an airline.
You're not wrong. When Air France announced they were retiring their fleet, BA should've purchased their Concorde's but then sold them to another Air Line and share the maintenance costs. But I think grounding Concorde a couple of years would've been necessary while the aviation industry picked up again after 9/11.
0:42 The BBC were able to call upon Raymond Baxter to contribute to the programme, in respect of his iconic commentary in 1969 at the first flight in Toulouse 34 years earlier.
1:50 "just as the moon landing.." 😂 that never happened.. 2nd.. do you REALLY wanna know why they grounded Concorde? The Truth? Coz it will put in total evidence the Huge Lie of the "Globe Earth".. biggest hoaxs in the Human History.. Flying at 60,000 feet and NOT seeing the Curvature was a bit too inconvenient.. wasnt it? 😊
i'M surprised to to have to repeat this so many times BUT, In 2002, B.A annoucned that Their Concorde Service, alone, created 25% NET, of all their profits, and rising. This ,to a large degree, was due to the rise in various groups of people Chartering Concorde. John Hutchinson, a Senior Concorde Captain said BA should NOT have ceased their Service. It was still viable. He was probably right, as the two main issues ( 9/11 ) and Air France Concorde crash, had nothing to do with BA. and the probable Passenger's soon rcovered their confidence in flying.
Yeah it’s frustrating that the same misinformation if posted regarding Concorde. The reality is more so that the manufacturer support was pulled thus they couldn’t operate any longer. It was a huge money maker based upon all those who have spoken on it from within BA, including those in operations.
Truly, Concorde is the world's greatest airliner. And it was surpose to retire with a clean record. So this incident really makes me feel sad. How I wish it did not happen!...... And I hope it will return to the sky before I die. I really love this beautiful plane as a Zambian youth.
I’m watching this video, 20 years; two decades to the date; Friday, 17th November 2023. Where has the time gone to? 🤷🏾♂️ Long live the Concorde forever ♾️ and forever ♾️ .
