Congrats on the win! That initial explosion of windows looked really cool, I'll have to check the github repo to see if you had to do any special hackery to get it that smooth. What was the size limit for this competition? I couldn't find it on the demozoo page.
thanks! no special hackery, simply quick SetWindowPos calling. No sizelimit in the demo compo, and I didn't really go for size. Crinkler still made it 10.275 bytes (with fast settings) + 5MB music file

huh that's really odd. the only thing I can think of is maybe a waird game version (but I'd expect crash rather than tanking fps) or maybe it doesn't work well with other mods?
the point is making it visually interesting and satisfying. this was before osu!lazer was really a thing, so the slider style and shrinking sliders were much different from regular osu!. Also the custom colors and curvy cursor movement is supposed to be interesting in a way. I also have to say that this amused me more when I was younger than now but some videos I made are still interesting style-wise for me.
God, I just watched the IMPOSSIBLE CENTIPEDE OSU MAP and now I get recommended this and I hope youtube keeps recommending these old classics because they bring back so many memories
