Let me paint you a picture of how it all began✨✨✨✨
Let's rewind to 2018, way before the chaos of the pandemic hit. Back then, I was just a young marketer trying to find my creative groove, so I decided to try making soy wax candles for my little Etsy store. After some serious trial and error, I finally got the hang of it. Things were going well until the pandemic hit, and I had to hit pause on my shop.
Fast forward to 2023, I've become a mom, and that creative itch is back. So, why not bring back the shop, right? Now that things are more stable, I've added new stuff like bookmarks, greeting cards, and tote bags. I moved away from Etsy, have spent countless hours tweaking my site, and even started selling at local markets. Now here I am, proud of how far I've come and excited for what's next.
you've become one of my favorite small business RU-vid pages to watch. From one small candle company owner to another I wish you all the best luck and thank you for the calm comfy vibes you bring to craft to!! I have really considered flying to NY just to meet you and get a couple goodies!!✨💖
Definitely worth it! I find it much cheaper to sell and make a profit off of my stickers rather than purchase from a third party company. Also you can test out designs without committing to a large purchase
Thank you! 😊 each popup I aim to make $500 but obviously for smaller events like the one at the bar I mostly aim to at least make back the fee I paid + pay myself minimum wage per hour I work the event. Smaller events arent lucrative but it does allow you to meet the locals and can potentially offer other opportunities
Thank you! I tend to follow local city/town social media accounts since they usually talk about whats happening in the area. Other times I ask other vendors or organizers will reach out to me
that candle did its thing 🤣 I got my stamp from etsy! You can get a large or small size and there's an option to purchase the ink as well. Here's the listing for reference: www.etsy.com/listing/1246446086/large-custom-stamps-or-small-custom?ref=yr_purchases.
Hey Ashley, you have the most beautiful products. 😍Try the Z booth layout at your next event! More people will fill inclined to enter your booth, I promise. ✌🏾&❤
I just stumbled across your channel and love your content. I’m a fellow maker myself in Massachusetts! I would love to know if you could let me know about your beautiful stands and where you for them from? I’m trying to elevate my table presence for summer markets and LOVE your displays 🥰

Thank you so very much! Literally have had 2 stands that wasn’t candle approved with the weight! But yours were stunning so thank you and I will check them out!! Praying many blessings over you and prosperity over your business! ❤️
Crying at the kid yelling😂 I’ve been so nervous to attend pop up’s that cost $150+ because the idea of not possibly selling but this was honestly the motivation I needed to tell me that it’s okay! So happy for you, love seeing your journey 🫶🏽
he was wild for that 😂 thank youu!!! 🫶🏽✨ Im happy I was able to help! It really is a risk every time you do a market but there’s always something to takeaway from any event
Im loving your vlogs! Great job at the markets! I have one coming up June 7 th here in DC, just a small one to get my feet wet..lol The first market I ever did I only made 20 dollars. Im glad I moved out of that area😂
Hey girly new to your channel omg how cool i love the way you set it up ❤ once upon a time i bought this candle or wax melter on facebook and i tried making a candle and i feel like i failed i even bought fragrance from hobby lobby it was the coffee fragrance and some wax and idk what i did wrong but it came out wrong lol ended up donating the wax melter thing since i basically ended up giving up lol and it was taking up space as I declutter and sometimes i feel like i should of tried again lol
Thank you!! You should do it! Start it out as a hobby and see if it’s something you want to make into a business. It takes a lot of testing of different types of waxes, wicks and vessels which can be costly and annoying tbh lol but once you find the recipe that works for you it’ll all be worth it
Great video! I am a new candle maker in Rensselaer NY! Haven’t launched yet. Looking into events but just not ready. My name is My Little Angel Candles. Maybe we will meet at an event one day. Wish you well!
Ty! Oh nice!! Love that you’re local!!! Let me know if you have any questions about events to attend. My IG is @quiensoyshoppe & good luck with your candle business!
I totally relate with balancing your fulltime job and your small business! Maybe for your next event document how you're setting up and taking down stuff, could be by photos or quick bullet points, it might you pinpoint what you'd like to improve or change for next time🙂
Awesome video!! From the beginning to the end you were entertaining! I’m so happy that you were able to get all of the support from the customers! I also love how you table was setup. Keep up the great work ☺️. New subscriber!
How do you go about renting a booth? I'm looking into starting my own small art business and would love to do booths with the nice weather coming but don't know how to ❤️
I actually had just enough 😅 I thought 5 of each scent for my large and small sizes would be enough. I have maybe 1 or 2 of each scent left and I have a total of 12 scents for my core line and 4 with my spa line. I couldve brought way more totes, pillar candles and stationery but I guess i know better for next time lol
1:07 I didnt take you through my inventory lmao Im so sorry. The footage ended up getting deleted but just know I got all of my vessels from candlescience and I use their clear and frosted tumbler jars!
This year I am being more cost of goods conscience. I changed my vessel and wax due to how the economy is going I have my first market this fall and starting to prep/test fall fragrances now. It seems early but the spring/summer seems to fly by!! I’m in Washington DC:)
Ive had to do the same! I was buying vessels from Makesy but realized it was cost effective since they were so expensive. Good luck on your pop ups! Fall is a great time to start and it’s never too early. Honestly I should do the same bc time is flying 😩 how is april almost over already ?!
i feel like this is a no brainer, but do you recommend having as many products as you can? i’m scared to have too much and just walk away with the same amount lol
Fair! Lmao I feel like I still struggle with this but it really depends on the estimated attendees and what you think will sell more of fragrance wise. Right now customers want more clean and summer themed fragrances from what I can tell so I bring 3-4 per fragrance that matches then 2 of the rest. But thats only in relation to the farmers market I was attending. There was another market where I brought 4 of each candle and sold out of some fragrances. I think to be safe start out with 3 of each and see what the crowd is like then make adjustments from there
Hope you guys like this quick tutorial on how I made my spa collection labels in Canva! If there's anything I missed or wish I would've elaborated on let me know in the comments!
Loved this video! I hurried over to your IG to see your products (just followed you back 😊), and your branding is on point and love your aesthetic. Everything you shared is spot on and I wish I had this knowledge when I did my first event in 2015. My farmers markets are now my bread and butter. When I first started, I was excited to make $350 a market. So for one of your first events to make $500?! That’s incredible! You can only go up from there. I’m happy to have found your channel and I’m so excited to watch you grow!
Ahh! I saw the IG notification that you were following me there first before I saw this comment and was excited since I love your content and business! Honestly watching your videos has been so helpful for me when it comes to my pop-ups! So happy you found me here and loved the video <3 Thank you for your support!!
