We had the A&M 45 in the house, a mom fave, but doesn't Beverly (Bev) Ann Bivens appear similar to Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders - I wish they would have covered the song "You were on my Mind". The We Five is a San Francisco band - one of the best songs of all time.
Its wonderful. Trying to place where it fits. 60s Music very unusual. Ya know...its like a really decked out Folk Song. Trippy vocals remind me of Grateful Dead later years. But it makes you feel something and she couldnt b cuter.
Pre-teens growing up happy in the 60s, we pretty much had a clue what was going on with Vietnam and all the assassinations and riots. But hey, the bell rang !
I know I’m still young being only 20 and all but after watching the warriors, instantly I came back to this track and the intro struck a cord in my brain and I felt like I connected a missing piece to a puzzle finally.
This was never a hit in UK, as done by We Five, until Crispian St. Peters recorded his version of it a year later in '66. I remember my Mum turning up the Transistor radio every time it was played.
BeeHive Forever!!( Local teen hang-out in my area) I wuz 12 going on 25( aka punk@$$ teenager) Juke-box run CONSTANTLY when open for business!! Owner had to contract maint worker to replace needle @ night!
This song was originally written and performed by Ian & Sylvia, a folk duo. I sang and played this song in a folk trio my sr yr in hs (class of '65), months before the We Five released this version. It was written by Sylvia in 1962 and released on their 1964 album, Northern Journey. They were Canadian.
Looking back on so much music the level of mind manipulation by certain entities is quite evident. Has been going on for a LONG time. Look, listen. Music is still manupulted. Yes, we were duped. Yes, it is still going on just in other forms. Out.
How could we have an almost endless supply of great (some very simple) supply of music and not have it improve over 50 years ? That does not even make sense. I had hope for a few but the bands just implode in a few, usually less than 5, years. Thankfully we had the Stones, ZZ Top, Lynerd Skynerd to hold things to together.
Bevins was magnetic. The sing was way too brief. There's an entire untold story of what it's about in my mind. We Five's version is a transmutation of Ian and Sylvia's (who wrote it) version.
❤This song has a always been the best there are just moving there bodies to the beat I'm still in love with We Fine you guys killed it then and now💙💙💙💙💙😂Beverly 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This isn’t British. The song was written and originally recorded by Canadian singer Silvia Fricker, and the band in this video was San Francisco based ‘We Five’.
