I haven't really been following the rules drops (but I do know some people are upset about the changes is Shooting). Thanks for running through everything up until now. I'm liking the 2 lt. mortars. It'll be interesting to see if they address missed indirect shots or not or include misfires.
Great video mate, looking forward to learning Version 3 along with you. Some nifty ideas there, definitely going to have a look at my updating my old Version 2 armies and those interchangeable groups are a great idea👍🏻
I think the darker rifles did look better, although I know what you mean about possibly looking too dark when stuff is small scale......keep up the good work 👏
@rich_john thanks mate, I am going to try a contrast paint that's a slightly darker colour and if it looks ok I will do the rest. Just can't stop thinking cocktail sticks 😂
I'm looking forward to seeing what's in 3rd ed. I don't know if I'm going to re-buy all the army books though. So far what I know about it, it seems like it will be a lot of fun.
Very interesting update. Like the epic chaps. You are right, from a distance they look good. A thin wash may help define the features but I don’t paint figures that small so it may not work. Bolt Action Version 3, I think the rules are now you buy a rifle platoon and that unlocks you to get any other platoon, but only one of each kind. However, if you want two engineer platoons you must first get two rifle platoons.
Going to be a fun project, Mark! I just started to get back into Epic ACW and English Civil War so we're going through the same hobbying. ACW definitely easier to paint up. Looking forward to the next update!
Great update! I just received the Epic Battles ACW box. I'd like to record the bigger battles from the beginning to the end of the war(Hopefully). Beautiful work so far! It's a HUGE project. Keep at it!
Brilliant update mate, excited to see those upcoming videos. ‘Toothpicks’😂 that’s just like one of my wife’s little comments, best go for a darker brown mate because if you anything like me it’ll be in your head for good now. I recently based up some terrain with a sand finish and passing by she said, “ooh they look like biscuits, what are they” lol…..needless to say I will be retouching them😉
Nice update. Thinking about those ACW epic battle lads. How about getting a silver marker pen and just putting either a line down the barrel of the gun or even just a dot on the top of the gun to emulate the glint of the metal on a musket. The colour you've used for the muskets is great and makes them stand out really nicely. As you say,you don't want to make them to dark.
@@kitchenwargamers4141 On average then how many units would you field on a 4x4? Me and my partner are new and we couldn't find much info for boards smaller than 6x4
@Calum_Clarke but 800 to 1000 pts could be good to aim for I use to use only 4x4 until I moved to the shed so if you look back at some of my earlier batreps.
Great stuff, I'm on a similar journey myself. I purchased the ACW box set when it came out, sold it a year later and now I've literally just bought the Gettysburg box set and have challenged myself to work through it and get it all painted. I like your idea of painting just the front and back. They look good. It will be good to follow your progress with these. Good luck mate.
That is a great looking collection! All those Shermans! Glad to see you've got a Marder in there. Under rated vehicle for BA. Never tell the wife the real cost of the hobby. lol
Recently made a tank game myself after looking at Achtung Panzer and saying I would have done that different 2 dozen times. Turned out to be a lot of fun. Was going to look into bolt action or flames of war for tanks. Using micro lego tanks atm
🤣😂Nearly choked on my tea ‘told the wife £62 the lot’ best to keep shtum on that one mate. Thats some collection, very nice. Maybe you could try out Warlords new ‘Achtung Panzer!’ with that little lot.😉
Fun to watch thanks. Glad you enjoyed playing too which is the main thing. Just a rules thing which you may have changed anyway, normally in combat SMGs only roll one dice and on a hit you may reroll for tough fighter. As it was it really didn’t matter in the game.
I’ve had a lot on this week, but finally got to watch your Solo Battle Report. Loved it, I think you’re definitely on to something with putting one force on defence, it seemed to work really well. A few ideas that occurred to me whilst watching; 1) Maybe you could place the defending force as you would if you wanted to play defensive 2) Have fewer objective points and place them closer to the centre of the defensive army 3) Restraining, the defensive army’s movement was a good idea, but maybe remove your choice of when to use the limited movements. For example, the movement could be triggered by the attacking army’s proximity to the main objective point, say when they come within 8 or so inches of it 4) Finally, as the defending army is digging in, maybe they could have access to the inside of buildings but the attacking force can’t enter for defensive purposes. Definitely got me thinking mate, great video, thanks so much for doing it👏👏👏
Great report.....one idea, could be to place numbered tokens for the german units.....then when revealing the token randomise what unit it is.....obviously might mean a less logical placement of a particular unit, but the not knowing would definitely be worth that slight issue.
