Very nice! I just seen a demo of a light brownish quilted maple you did, very nice also. I have a block of the rarest quilted maple, tortoise quilt, large enough for a complete guitar. Just waiting for the right person to see it, and say I have to have my instrument made out of that. I have other quilted maple too, bubble and tube, but this tortoise quilt is crazy nice. You’re making some very nice instruments there. 👍🏻
thats the easiest and best sounding video ive watched on how to make that " constant sorrow sound "on a dobro , good job !!!! i think people get lost with all the over explaining frets and junk , the sound is there and watching you do it out right just makes it simple where even an ol shade tree picker can go at it , Thanks !!!
I wish I could take credit for this clip but that is the great Jeff Partin. I personally learned a lot by being self-taught but then took Skype lessons from Mike Witcher. I would highly recommend lessons from Mike if you're serious about playing
Really cool, thanks for sharing. Cant believe it took 7 years for me to stumble into this. If I had shop space that nice I'd defo give an upgrade like that a go on my RD-51. But I think my eventual upgrade is going to just be whole new Beard or something similar, my black lightning sounds alright with fresh strings.
This guitar seems to be damaged at the lip of the sound well. I’d like to know where the other sound posts went. My guess is this instrument was abused by a previous tinkerer.
That is kind of shabbily made compared to my black lightning..which has a quarterman cone..it also has a sound ring( I guess you would call it) a plywood ring with large holes drilled in it which does the same thing as your posts... I had to re-glue the neck and ad a thicker shim where the neck extension attaches to a block just inside the sound ring..the top was delaminating near where the neck attaches so that needed to be glued and clamped..this is a older one(15 years) and it sat in case for years unt
