Tim and his talented team also deliver a community program. Operating in every county across Northern Ireland they have over 25 weekly centres managed by a team of 20 coaches. This is from their award winning Toddler Soccer program and Mini Soccer, through to their school and Elite program. TW Sports celebrated 15 years in business in August 2020. They work with over 500 children every week.
Along with the program in Northern Ireland Tim has been hired to deliver clinics in Southern Ireland, England, Europe, USA and Australia. Tim has written 4 books; ’Toddler Soccer The Essential Guide To A Toddler’s First Steps In Soccer’, ‘1-on-1 Coaching The Secrets To Improve ALL Football Players - GUARANTEED!’, ‘The Secrets To Developing ELITE Youth Football Players’ and 'The Secrets to Delivering Awesome Football Coaching Clinics - GUARANTEED!'.
I have been involved with a team of Under 10's this season. 7 a side. We play on Saturday mornings in Belfast. We train and make our players play the ball on the floor from the back off the keeper. It breaks my heart when I see coaches encourage their keeper and defender to whack the ball upfront and "GET AFTER IT!" Last week we played a so called stronger team. After our first attack, their coach screamed "Lump it forward". Every time the keeper got the ball he did just that, and the rest of the team chased after it. This is the culture we have to break. Coaches need to develop young players properly...not chase results. My team would NEVER do that. We have got plaudits from other coaches and parents on how we play. Keep the ball on the deck!
+Elaine Williams Hi Elaine, keep to your beliefs. The balloon 'coaches' that direct their kids to hump the ball & jump up & down celebrating the kid that stands up top will be the same 'coaches' that shout at the kid for always being off side in 11 aside. What team are you with? 2006's do you take? You can contact me @ tim@twsports.org
you cant just join if it were that easy we would all be playing for football academies, you gotta get scouted or impress when or if your team ever gets to play them
Most youth teams here are kitted out really well to be fair. I think it adds to the professionalism & makes players for part of the club. Identity is always important : )
is it common or standard for players in Ireland to wear team colors for training? Our practices players usually wear whatever training gear they own. I like the look of team colors with training, like a uniform i can send a positive message.... got me thinking
I accept your very kind offer : ) Cheers, they are a great group of kids & I am just trying to provide a platform for them & change the way youth football is delivered in Northern Ireland. Connect with us on Facebook & Twitter @twsportsgroup & let us know more about your club.
arsenal for life i went to England for a tournament i was invited to and arsenal want me to come back and play for the when im 12 and im turning 12 in November cant wait
Great video, and a great concept, Tim. I agree with your philosophy that as coaches we need to share ideas. The kids already have the talent and it's criminal if we don't unlock it.
