Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) works to ensure that Australians affected by breast cancer receive the very best support, information, treatment and care appropriate to their individual needs.

BCNA is the peak national organisation for Australians affected by breast cancer, and consists of a network of more than 100,000 individual members and 300 Member Groups. More than 90 per cent of our members have had a diagnosis of breast cancer, and the remaining members have had a personal experience with breast cancer through a family member or friend.

We are represented by the Pink Lady silhouette, symbolic of our focus on the women diagnosed with breast cancer and all those around her.

One can have an holistic approach - and to have complimentary medicine alongside important medical care and advice is imperative. So many questions unanswered in the recent interview with EM, that seemed contradictory. BCNA, thank you for addressing this expediently and offering sound advice to this community & those who wish to educate themselves within this space. For me personally, it’s an anniversary of my cancer diagnosis and the 3 operation I’ve had at the same time of year each year. I lost my sister to breast cancer only months ago and then my father passed away of cancer very quickly few weeks ago. I was diagnosed in 2020, during Covid. My sister had valuable time with her family due to modern medicine. And I too am alive today because of it. It’s not a perfect nor painless path, but to feel pain is to be alive some days and every day is a good day. Thank you to the wonderful community members that have input in the past few days and spoken up. I believe we all genuinely care for each other, we are all a little worried about each other at the moment. ❤

I know that we all have choices regarding our treatment. I chose double mastectomy and conventional chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy for a total of 12 months of treatment for my HER2 positive breast cancer. But that's me, that was my decision. Elle chose her treatment, her right. I just wish she hadn't so publicly pushed her unconventional treatment as being the answer for everyone. I certainly hope it works out well for her. But please, please listen to the medical experts, not a wealthy celebrity.

I was personally very disturbed at the mis-information contained within the TV episode… We all have our own journeys & celebrities who are not themselves an expert should keep their views (and their choices) to themselves … I agree no need to waste energy on it, but it triggered so many emotions in me having been thru the gauntlet & was so happy with my choices… Elle just trivialised my own choices to do everything medical & wellness combined…

Elle is promoting her book...shes using her health issues to have a best seller...which sucks big time coz shes a celebrity and has a lot of followers and theres a lot of women out there that would think twice about treatment...

Most women with dcis won’t ever get past grade 0 without any treatment. I’m going to have a biopsy and probably leave it alone depending on results. Don’t feel pressured to do something fast. Do your research and like this video says, get a second opinion. God Bless😇

2 yrs since my BC diagnosis. 5 yrs since diagnosed w/thyroid cancer that has spread to my lungs. At the age of 75 one or the other will get me. Scared all the time with repeat scans for both. It's exhausting mentally. Tried so therapy for anxiety but that was useless. When they invent a pill for fear I'll be the first in line.

What a great video. My breast cancer was discovered following a chance mammogram I had a double lumpectomy in my left breast.A follow up appointment revealed more cancer so 3 weeks later I had a mastectomy. I was prescribed Tamoxifen for 5 years however I took it for 12 years in all by my choice with my doctors' agreement . The breast cancer team were wonderful ,nearly all woman so lots of empathy. I have been blessed to see my children married and grandchildren growing up for which I am eternally grateful.

This is a great presentation. Thank you. I would say that I am ever so glad I had the Oncorype testing which confirmed no chemo. An anxious wait was well worth the avoidance of something like chemo. I can’t believe that I could have undergone chemo I didn’t even need. My fabulous breast surgeon early on said he doubted it was needed. Picked it right: stage 2 ER/PR + stage 2. It also provides a prediction about recurrence. Maybe nothing is certain but I’m glad I had it. I agree this test must urgently become available to all women regardless of income. Again thank you for a really helpful presentation.

Thank you my deadly sisters for sharing your stories. I had a lumpectomy in June followed by 3 weeks radiaton. Now on the Tamoxifen. I also get tired and have a continuous pain in my arm like a pulled or strained muscle. Sometimes I have discomfort under my arm where they removed the lymph nodes and other times nothing. I am always tired but don't sleep well. My breast is numb yet still it aches. I have to often remind myself to slow down. I have a positive frame of mind and a wonderful support crew in my daughter and sister. We've got this ladies. Love and gratitude to all ♥️💛🖤

To all the ladies especially newly diagnosed- I was early breast cancer 6 years ago 2.5 cm aggressive. Had chemo herceptin etc. Early septicaemia from a flu virus caught straight away blood test through treatment after sore throat. Lowered immunity. Recurrence fear gets better each month and year! First two years maybe the worst for worry. I worried for nothing. It’s hard but try to enjoy your life as per normal and felt like a bit of denial as if it never happened helped an obsessive like me! Lol. Life is so short i recently lost a friend and my dad too. - So try and do whatever makes you happy and going into nature works wonders! Best wishes to you all! X

You were lucky Monday you go to dr. Thursday you have mastectomy. Wow, that is incredible. I had to wait for weeks. But, you are right. It’s in the back of your mind. And every pain is panic. I had a leg soreness and was sure it was cancer. But, it was one of the pills I was taking for my cancer.
