I love this but I have to criticize this it’s was a let down i thought we have a big fireworks display. Had the rain never happen that day we had a epic fireworks show from LA to Disneyland
It's strange we just accept the mass amount of deaths from commercial air flight. Hundreds die at a time, more often than is acceptable in my opinion. As well as the 40k a year in auto crashes. Yet we still want 70 mph speed limits.
This media outlet must be paid by Alaska Air to give them such positive press. WTF. They were heroes on Wall St. to making record profits for years but nobody knew how they were doing it!! They extended the time interval to grease these tail jackscrews from 500 hours to 2200 hours! Nearly 5x longer to maintain THE only method to control the plane's pitch...Chilling
I was married at that time to a physicist in the math dept at Stanford. We were bringing our 4 month old son up for Christmas from San Francisco to visit my parents in Seattle. Ours was likely the same Alaska flight just 4-5 weeks earlier from San Francisco to Seattle and when I booked the tickets I told my husband ‘I always fly this airline; they’ve never had an accident’. He replied “all the more reason they’ll have one”. So incredibly sad that a month before, we made our journey and a month later, those souls did not.
Yup. That's how it is.. It is so great to have so many people come to your town thinking "the commute here is so much better than x" at the same time making THIS towns traffic fucked. Love the excellent driving edict people are bringing with them here when moving.
RIP to the elementary school children on this flight. One of my early memories is of going to the memorial your nearby elementary school held for you after the crash. You were so unfortunate, and could have been any of us who flew on Alaska Airlines MD80s before this crash. Alaska Airlines killed you in one of the most terrifying, painful, and prolonged ways a person can die out of sheer penny-pinching and corruption. You made flying safer for the rest of us, and Alaska Airlines has, to their credit, developed an obsession with safety throughout the last 20 years, but you needn’t have died at all and it makes me so sad to think you would be my age now for $8 worth of grease.

Was not a 737. Was a MD80. And one that Alaska Airlines intentionally didn’t keep the maintenance up to date on… hope AA can’t sleep well at night ever again with their decisions.
Scott has been reporting for as long as I can remember. At least 30 years. I actually don’t remember this crash because I was not watching much news or paying attention to what’s been happening in the world during this time. The reason why was because my dad was gravely ill and he died around the same time as the plane crash. I was just 15.
Pilots have done every thing they could but plane got out of control . They never gave even in the very end . listen the cvr before 15 sec of the crash they said we are flying yes we are .
Seeing this was so interesting for me. I live in Alaska, and I feel our state is often forgotten. About everything. It’s kind of hard to explain but you don’t really see Alaska pop up in RU-vid videos or TikToks. I used to fly Alaska Airlines. The only airline my family flew. We now fly Delta. We had to by accident one and decided we liked it better. That doesn’t really matter just wanted to say that. Anyway, I’m watching plane documentaries, and scrolling through the videos under the video I see my State. That shocked me. Then Alaska Airlines. This was crazy for me that we finally get brought up. I’m sorry, I suck at explaining this. I guess you would have to live in Alaska to understand....
I remember this well. I was living in Santa Barbra and saw the rescue recovery aircraft in the distance. My brother in law was a bay watch lifeguard and told me about their picking up body parts from their on site boat.
