LOvely seeing Rory McGrath doing something other than spending over a year constantly psychologically and physically harassing and stalking women...threatening harm, trying to blackmail, threatening their relatives, hiding in bushes, screaming in the middle of streets "I want to destroy you". Behaving in so disgusting an entitled a manner that even though he was famous so the police let him get away with things they never should have, eventually he was charged and sent to trial. If you ever thought you noticed sexism in his "jokes", writing, and attitudes - you were totally correct. Oh, just a moment..McGrath DID apologize. But, er, not to ANY of his victims. Just to his wife. So, not for any of his CRIMES. Like Ted Bundy only apologizing to his mother. In Chelmsford 123 there was ONE female character, in the first season. Clearly that was unendurable. So she was gone by season 2. But that's okay because in season 2 they brought in someone who did go to prison for sex crimes, child sex offences. The thing that was always the very funniest in every Chelmsford 123 episode was the effort put in to hiding just how tall and attractive is Neil Pearson. He is considerably taller than McGrath or Mulville, yet, strangely, in every scene in the all the episodes, his height drops at much as half a foot, till he is at least 3 inches shorter than McGrath. His face & head are concealed under deformed moustaches and hats. It was as though on one hand they knew that had an actor with star or sex appeal, one who audiences would immediately take to and like., so he was a great asset, and they wanted him....but on the other hand, they couldn't stand the competition. He was mostly given the endless duff "jokes" about his name, which were excruciating, and still are. Hardly given any other lines at all, when he did finally have some, because he could deliver lines without just being broad, they worked. What a waste. But at least Andy Hamilton wasn't so vain and stupid, he let Drop the Dead Donkey make Pearson a star. Helping Hat Trick despite themselves.
What a charming man Alfred is, I love hearing how stretched out his answers are. Like op said below, he is unreplacable as Doc Ock. I just wanna watch all his films now!! amazing actor. <3
