After suffering episodic amnesia due to a Cerebral Event, I tried to trigger my memories with gaming. What's it Like originally started as a Blogger project to help me recover some motor neuron skills and keep my brain busy. I fell in love with writing and gaming and despite not being very good at either, people seemed to enjoy my take on the world of gaming. After making a full recovery, What's it Like fell by the wayside and life took over.
Now that I'm traveling Australia and gaming on the go, I decided to restart What's it Like, mainly with a focus on Nintendo Switch content. I hope you enjoy my ramblings and the content I put out. I invite constructive criticism and collaboration so if you want to share your point of view, by all means, let me know!
@Litlrox hahaha nah it got me good! I had a moment of panic too! It was nice to have some injections of humour here and there to alleviate the darked nature of the game.

Nice one. I've been slowly working through the previous two entries in this series while waiting for your review on this one. I'd hoped perhaps the devs had improved upon the need to repeatedly go through every option in order to progress the story, but it sounds like it's the same as in earlier games. Still, the story sounds good, and I'm always down for that. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!
@@whatsitlikeau I'm actually still on the first one, since I struggle a bit these days to stay awake when faced with lots of reading, so have to play in short bursts. But from what I've seen so far it seems very similar to what you described in this game, just with a bit more dated graphics. The story is interesting, and I love that there's a "story so far" feature to catch up if you miss a day or two. There are a lot of Japanese names to remember (I'm terrible with names in general), but there's always the notebook to refer to if I need to look up who someone is again. Basically, I'd say if you really enjoyed the third one, you'll probably like the earlier games too.
What a cool event. Being from the OG Nintendo generation, it's been really fun watching Nintendo progress through the decades. Watching all the ways gaming has advanced - largely due to that amazing Nintendo innovation - has been a remarkable experience. I'm so glad you got to attend this event. I'm sure it's fun for visitors of all ages, but feel like it's extra special to our generation. Appreciate you sharing the fun!
Yeah, I feel for me it was a lifetime of memories and fun that I got to experience. They put so much care and effort into the event it was truly an amazing experience, and it was nice for Australia to get some love too!
I know I’m late but if anyone is having trouble with this boss, it’s best to hit the edges first on the 2nd and third phases to leave yourself with the center part for last. If you only have edge piece left I found it best when I was younger to aim for the walls so the bomb bounces around a bit to make the timing a bit easier
I blame Nintendo on this one. Im thinking they really wanted it for the Nintendo direct. Now imagine being coffe stain studio and telling Nintendo its not ready. Ill forgive coffee stain studios if they get a patch out this week.
Major bugs! Some early missions like swedes assembly and Bilbo's journey you can't even complete. So I'm shelving the game. No point in playing when the whole point in playing is to complete as many missions as you can.
Thanks mate! I had a blast and lets be real, Nintendo fans are the best. There were no dramas or anything at the event, just a bunch of Nintendo fans having a great time.
Downloaded hoping to add the ‘free for 48 hours only’ punch to my already existing Stumble Guys profile, only to find out the Switch version currently doesn’t support cross progression, so you can’t sign in with your existing profile..
I'm desperate for FONV on the switch. Aside from the Yakuza series and Kingdom Hearts, it is ny all time favourite game. In fact I think it is neck and neck with LAD Infinite Wealth, it is just so special. I might have to buy this to quench my thirst for a port of FONV. ❤
@whatsitlikeau Yeah, I didn't know that I'm supposed to fall on top of the pots very hard to get them at first. I thought that the giant pots was a mechanic that I missed for some reason.
@whatsitlikeau It wasn't. But it's fine because it's optional. It's a way to discover more about the game's world. But finding a sponge to put out the fire was not optional...
There are some events that won't load in, so if you want to 100% complete the game like finding all the trinkets, you won't be able to do Swedes Assemble if the planks won't load and the blue boxes won't break.

It usually goes on sale every other week so when it's on sale it's absolutely worth it. It's worth it at full retail too, but since it's constantly on sale it may be best to wait
The punch is ridiculous. I felt like a dick using it, but also if you don't someone punches you. I only stuck to the started pack for microtransactions

I have this game on pc and never finished it. But I recently finished it on my switch since I was able to take it to work and play it in small increments
I've come back to this video for some Switch footage now that Hogwarts Legacy has dropped below $20 on the eShop, I'm finally picking it up. I hope that recent patches have improved the performance a bit. But even if they haven't, the game certainly looks good enough already. Cheers! Keep up the good reviews.
I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit I grabbed this one as soon as it dropped. I enjoyed the previous game so much I didn't even stop to think. Turns out I really should've waited for some reviews (esp yours, since we have such similar tastes, ha). I don't usually mind a bit of pop in, etc on the Switch, but this is by far the worst I've seen. I agree, it feels like the release was rushed to match the Nintendo Direct date. I *really* hope we see a patch at some point. Hate to see so much potential go to waste - not to mention feeling just a tad ripped off atm. Oh well, live and learn, right? On a brighter note, at least we saw some decent title announcements. What's your favorite from the direct?
Yeah its a shame since the core elements are so good. A few patches will really go a long way! As for announcements I'm pretty excited for the Marvel Vs Capcom Fighting Collection and Yakuza! Lots of good indies there too and Peglin looked unique, but things are a bit to tight to grab a copy to check out because of my trip to Sydney. I hope it sells well though, unique games and indie devs deserve the support!
@@whatsitlikeau Nice. Fwiw, I grabbed Peglin myself, since I've been hoping for a Switch port of that particular game for awhile now. I'm having a lot of fun with it. It's basically Peggle meets Slay the Spire. There are a few different classes to unlock, and lots of builds to try along the way. I'm not sure if you've played Slay the Spire, but it borrows a lot from that game. It has StS-type relics, as well as different ball types you can unlock/upgrade after each battle (similar to what you do with cards in StS). The map is very similar to what you find in StS, with options to go for elite enemies (for extra relics), treasure chests, shops, or "question mark" random encounter spots. The biggest downside to Peglin for me personally is the audio. The sound effects aren't quite as addictive as what you find in Peggle. They're not bad, by any means, but feel a bit vanilla to me. Not the worst complaint, just a bit nit picky, lol. I can't say I'm great at the game yet, but look forward to learning and improving more with each run. The price might be a *tad* high for what you get, but I think it depends on how much this sort of game clicks with you. I definitely recommend checking it out once you've had a chance to financially recover from the awesome Sydney trip (and maybe once it goes on sale).
I had to buy it after reading this comment and I absolutely loved it. I'm moving on to Emio but I'll be definitely playing this one more! I wish it had a similar slow motion "Ode To Joy" type thing when hitting crits, but apart from that, found it to be really replayable!
