I can’t say definitively if it’s safe nor not to eat, but if you decide to eat it I recommend cooking it thoroughly just in case.

That could be the reason but you never know what's going to bite unless you try.

The Beaches are open from what i can see online but whether its e-coli free i cant say.

I use a Running Sinker Trace, I find it easier to set the hook that way.
