(Advanced English Grammar): Complet Sentence: 'The issues that are important to the people are what finally matters'. Clause Analysis: One main clause and two subordinate clauses. 1. The issues ...are ... (main clause). 2. ...that are important to the people ...(subordinate clause (i) - adjective clause describing the antecedent noun 'the issues'). 3. ...what finally matters. (subordinate clause (ii) - noun clause - complement to the verb 'are' of the main clause). Use 'are' here (not 'is') in the main clause as its subject 'the issues' is plural.
