Thanks for the memories! My family and I drove the entire Rollins Pass road many times in the 1970s, the trestles and tunnel were intact, the old snow sheds that covered the RR tracks had decayed and collapsed but were still all over the right of way. We found the road very drivable and regular cars easily made the drive in those days. The entire trip from Denver to the Moffat tunnel, up and over the Rollins Pass road and either back the same way or over Berthoud pass made for an excellent day’s outing.
I would strongly suggest you get an external hand carried gain microphone to record people you are listening to in your videos as the audio is hard to hear in areas of background noise
Unless that Gold-Silver mine is right off the beaten path, I find it hard to believe that someone would carry in a spray can of paint and tag the remains with grafitti. I'm sorry but grafitti is not "art"!
The video was pretty good, but you forgot to mention the third washer when installing the 90 degree fitting in the hole at the top of the generator case. The third washer is required so that the fitting tightens correctly on the case. I had to take it all apart, which wasn't easy since the close nipple loosened on the wrong side.
I'm going to put a black, flat water tank on top of mine the sun will heat it. And it will be gravity fed. The one I'm build will roughly be the same size as yours. Yours looks great. I'm also gonna ad a black water tank under the bottom of my trailer for a little toilet and sink.
I did this conversion and it works well. The only drawback is you can’t top off propane like you can gasoline. You either need a backup propane tank ready to go or you are shut down while you go get the tank refilled.
There are a lot of videos about these LCFs on RU-vid and none of them show any of the topside facilities. I get that the capsule is the most interesting part of the thing. But I want to see the rest of it. I worked in one as security in the 80s at Whiteman AFB (351st Strategic Missile Wing) so I have a bit of nostalgia for it. I worked at Alpha, Bravo, Delta and Foxtrot flights from 86-90.
Great video; nicely done step by step. Question, please: A Hutch Mountain video does not show the step where you drain the fuel before switching to propane. Is that required?
To those asking I copied most of his ideas and they worked wonderfully, except I used a green 10 foot flexilla hose (looks great) and was the perfect length to wrap around both side and mounted the quick fists with four 1'' carriage bolts from Home Depot (5/16th I think) same diameter as the include mounting bolts but shorter. I had to drill out the hole on the quick fist (MINI) to allow the bolt to fit. My original hose from the road shower cracked at the bend point and I was disappointed with the velcro and c clamp attachments so this was a wonderful upgrade to find. Thanks, very smart ideas.
Thanks for the video, my stock came loose on my LTT yesterday at the range, I had an inkling on how to tighten it and your video confirmed what I thought
What size trailer did you start with? flat deck + dovetail. I have a 16' + 2' i' d like to do something similar with. (smaller camper section for tools and changing room)
