About ten or so years ago I was in a flight from Tokyo to Bangkok in a time of high tension between Japan and China over disputed islands. About a week before a B 52 had been flying over the area. I was sitting on the left hand side of the plane towards the front. I noticed something g strange out of my window and could see there were two Chinese planes one a kilometre ahead of us an one about the same distance behind. I was concerned but not overly worried suddenly I saw another air vehicle caught in the late evening sunshine. Strangely it was almond shaped and pulsing bright orange at its rear half. about ten thousand feet or possibly more higher than our plane and the two Chinese fighters accompanying our flight. It came over very fast seemed to slow then shot off at an incredible speed. Then the Chinese fighter flew off as suddenly as they appeared.
Funny nonsence, altitude of Mig-25 and Mig-31 is higher than SR-71. 85000feet or 25km EASY. Withtout missiles 27-30km 100 000 feet is standard. With 2 missiles can this 85 reach easy.
I’ve seen that donut ring pattern in the sky mind you it was the early 2000s and I was near a military Air Force Base. But I haven’t seen it in 20 years at least.
Airforce frequently puts out stupid numbers. 1) cost of keeping A-10 operational. 2) cost/value/benefit of B-52 new engines - using bare cost of fuel instead of cost of putting it in a aerial tanker, then aerial refueling
The "successor" to the SR-71 are high resolution satellites... That being said.. I PRAY the "SR-72" isn't just a pipe dream.. I personally think Lockheed /DARPA already have the propulsion system figured out. I'm most curious of how you repeatedly deal with Mach 6 heating...

This is dated as of 2 weeks ago but quoting 2018 roll out estimates. It is just an re-gifting of an old video. Don't count on Lockheed Martin they are a DEI first as Boeing company. Being a world leading first class hardware MFG visionary is more suggestion rather than an actual goal. No engineer in charge just accountants figuring how much the can milk out of the DOD.
This video just discussed all of the attributes possessed by the A-10, attributes that no other US military fighter jet has. As with anything of this nature, it all comes down to funding and often borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. I pray that Congress and military leaders can find a way to keep this much-beloved attack jet flying deep into the future. Listen to the grunts on the ground. They are the ones who know firsthand what works and what doesn't.

Sr-72 Son Of Blackbird Dark Star. A duel purpose hypersonic aircraft with both a manned and unmanned variant. Why people are so insistent that "its a drone" when part of the hype is it being the fastest self-propelled manned air craft to beat its older brother is beyond me.
Why USA is loosing then? In Vietnam, In Afghanistan and now in Ukraine? USA can win the battle, but loose the war! These are only good for short strikes and way overpriced and over engineered
A little secret to all of you. Whenever the U.S. Air Force publicly announces a plane to the public, the plane has already been tested for 20-25 years. The Blackbird first flew in 1957 and the F-22 first flew in 1989. 😂
Yep...they have something even more out of this world and I have photo proof. It's called a Pulse Detonation Engine and it's rumored to power the Aurora hypersonic aircraft. Its signature contrail looks like "donuts on a string" I took a picture of such a contrail behind my house in Southern California in 2019 at around 4:30 pm. It flew very high and fast across the sky - I estimate 3 to 4 times what an airliner would across the sky.
The A-10 performs tactical support like no other aircraft, regardless of its age! The A-10 has more promise and potential for forward-thinking engineers. More speed is not always the best solution. I'm reminded of 1940, when a pair of aging Kingfisher torpedo planes made the fatal strikes on the super battleship Bismark! Remember bigger and faster is not always the best.
