The main goal of these videos is to present the Scottish Highland bagpipe in the best possible way in picture and sound playback through PC and mobile devices. All recordings are without manipulation, only reference is the human ear. The sound experience is the same as I hear when I play - and not as an audience. Born in 1962 and after a 20 year break I bought myself a new set of pipes. "DUNCAN MACRAE SL10 STERLING SILVER BAGPIPE" 2019. Setup: Ezeedrone Drone Reeds (inverted Bass). Canmore Hybrid Zipper Bag. Ross Canister System. Hardie Infinity Blackwood with G1 Platinum Reed. Ceol McCallum Blackwood with Shepherd ridge cut reed. "60+ age" piping: Due to my age, I am now experiencing an accumulation of lactic acid in my fingers. It does not hinder me, but it is thought-provoking. High speed playing in the endless is now limited! In Denmark the first Scotsman I have ever met as a young man was Pipe Major Bob Hardie - and I am grateful! He also made my first ivory set of pipes.
Have you heard Joe Adler's arrangement of this tune? I put it up on my RU-vid channel. One of my favorite recordings which took over 20 years to actually find because it I originally heard it on a sound effects tape!
Tunes; The Swallowtail Coat, The Mallow Men, Jockey on the Braes of Abernathy, Wee Alec Fort William, PM John Allan, Paddy Kelly’s Stump, The Boys of Bluehill, The Ballachulish Walkabout. Incredible fingers, he was flying here!
Said to have been played by the approaching Highland regiment at the Relief of Lucknow in 1857, to let the British prisoners know that help was coming.
It is a beautiful classical style instrument and easy to reed. Absolutely no problems and the rest is up to you and your blowing. Mine is pure silver and bought direct from Stuart Liddell. Buying an old one with ivory is foolish today due to legislation as you are not allowed to resell it.
I was just introduced to this tune only a few days ago, and I love it, so I was very glad to find that you had it as part of your presentations. Great job. For me, its the tachems!
