I worked for Caterpillar Tractor Plant, Glasow, Scotland...and this was one of our machines, we built the D8H, then the D8K and then the new design D8L..We supplied all the D8's for Europe, Africa, Turkey and the Middle East, and Australia.
Can't imagine how they will ever get these large rocks out of the field. There will always be hidden rocks to thwart planting and cultivation. Might be able to grow tree crops. A neighbor did this and found out some places had no soil left at all.
I spent many a happy long day on an 'H', pushing pans, clearing and working cuts and anything else I could find to do. They are sure sweet tractors and will turn the work out.
Hey, that's how I loaded rock into my dump truck so I could plant my orchard. Everybody asked where I got the rock. 28 loads later, I was done. But I had to buy my rock rake. Nick rock bucket.
Sicuramente un bel lavori ma con i macchinari di oggi conveniva usare un escavatore, anche perché oggi per rifare un carro sotto a quel mezzo ci vogliono 35 40 mila euro
Now there''s an operator with 'know how', he knows how to save the transmission and undercarriage. Rough work. I'd like to know what idiot planted those rocks. ( haha)
Yep...he's got the knack! Rocks look to be 'floaters' ...when the pick gets under them, lift and roll them out. Saves the machine and saves him going home at night with a stiff neck and sore back!
Nice HH 46A. As long as we can get parts for them, they will outlast the D8T's. Those were built in the days when Caterpillar made real machines, and not crap like they do now.
