My wife had a similar incident on her first test. She felt she controlled the situation but the twitchy examiner had already touched the brake so it was an instant fail. £100 down the drain and months waiting for a retest because of someone else's bad driving.
Taxi driver was in the wrong he was on the inside and merged after her then cut her off what a knob! I think I was literally one of the first people to pass my test in the new Kettering centre..
Thats the worst thing about taking your driving test, you can do everything perfectly, then this kind of nonsense can happen. Hopefully everything goes/went smoothly on her actual test, depending on when this was recorded.
For that reason. This route is used on test and especially because of the paint. Most (including full licence holders) meeting this for the first time get this wrong
I live locally to Kettering and know it well for driving. One thing I notice with almost all of your videos is that when setting off from the test centre on the route towards the A14 all of your learners approach the initial “Tesco” island in the left hand lane then go round to take the 3rd exit without any right hand indication, going past the Kettering (Pytchley road) and Holdenby Road exits from that left hand lane, indicating left as they leave the roundabout. Maybe I’m a fossil but I wouldn’t personally do that and would actually see it as a dangerous manoeuvre? I’d primarily take the right hand lane onto the roundabout, indicating right to go past the first 2 exits then indicate left and take the 3rd exit, joining the road in the outside lane (then move over to the left lane when safe if applicable). Or - if the road signs indicate it’s permissible use the left hand lane then once past the first exit I’d stay in the outer lane, indicating right, past the 2nd exit then indicate left to take the 3rd exit and be in the left hand lane to go up towards the A14. This has been a substantial topic of debate in our house with my son (passed 3 years ago) emphatically telling me the L driver is correct but I just don’t see how!!! The lane markings do not state that the left lane is for the 3rd exit (or I don’t think they do) Really enjoy your videos of the roads I know but would really appreciate your expert view on why I’m wrong! 😊
Dont even man haha, my instructor was rude af having a go at me for being dangerous etc like bruh there was no paint markings how tf am i supposed to know lol. He started showing me on google maps etc of where im supposed to be so the next day I sat in the top deck of a bus to asses it and yeah all the paint rubbed off and potholes in the middle of the lanes which cars were swerving around lol
That’s a very easy spiral roundabout, try going on ones where there are 3, 4 or 5 lanes on the approach to the roundabout, I’ve been on Thurmaston roundabout, Wanlip roundabout, Hobbyhorse roundabout and the big spiral roundabout near to Fosse Park but they’re all very easy, they all have road signs and road markings telling you what lane you need to be in for your exit.
As an HGV driver I see Private hire ( black cabs usually better as they are mostly older local drivers with some basic check behind them) every 5 minutes lost kn mototway or on some dual carriageway. Don't forget you don't need anything else except some international car driving licence, no knowledge about road , law, Highway code, car, language, nothing- only a mickey mouse sat nav and IQ of 2,5. Every few months there is a death on roads with customers. When I did my taxi licence as student in germany 35 years ago, I had rp pass a few tests incl local road / knowledge test and was not allowed to drive taxi anywhere else except which area I had covered in my test. I now even see lost sat nav police drivers in Uk.😅
I feel like a lot of people never really learn this lesson 😂🙈🤦🏻♂️ the number of people who won't go above 40mph on national speed limit roads is infuriating 🙃
The fact people think going 20mph past a flight animal is an acceptable speed is crazy… people need to be more educated, I think the theory test should include stuff about horses
Since when have you been allowed on a motorway as a learner. In thr 90s i had to do a Pass Plus course, that took you on thr motorway, and lanes at neght etc. i think it was 4 hours of driving, cost about £80, but it woudl half your insirance premiums. Meaning my first insurance was £700 instead of about 1200 on a 1992 escort van. Thrn i moved to wales and it dropped to under £400 the next year.
I failed my second driving test by undertaking a lorry which just entered the dual carriageway and change to the right lane as there is a roundabout a mile away and I think he is gonna do a right turn. The examiner simply just failed me for that… then I remember the most important rules of staying on the left whenever possible
I was thinking the same. You should never be on the left going around to the third exit. I would say she was in the wrong lane and could have caused an accident if the instructor didn’t take the wheel.
@@chrispybee It is a six-exit roundabout, The left lane is the correct lane. It is by our test centre. Do you seriously think I would telling the pupil to take the wrong lane at a test centre I have been using for eight years. Do you not think I would have been pulled up by an examiner in that time if I was wrong? That notwithstanding, just stating a third exit must always be right is not great
From teh exit the taxi took the planning board states you can take both lanes, and as they are on the outside, they must merge to teh left and give way to us
@@RDriveSchoolofMotoring there are no lanes in the roundabout either and presumably an end of dual carriageway sign before the station of the clip. Glad you’re not teaching me
I was so focused on the white bmw that i didnt notice the taxi, lol. Always be wary of white bmws, insecure men who wish they had a bmw drive those things.
“Insecure men who wish they had a BMW drive those things” know as BMW’s. Makes sense. Yes I drive a white family BMW with my family in so I must be insecure.
It’s becoming impossible to not pass cars on the left now days. Almost Every day I encounter cars in lane 2 and 3 on the a13 doing 55 in a 70 while lane 1 is completely empty. So do I continue to drive within the speed limit in lane 1 ( normal driving lane ) and pass on the left or do I drop down to their speed sit beside them and create a literal wall.
If you want to pass just do it if safe to do so. Some people think the slowest vehicle in outside lanes has the power to reduce the 70mph speed limit to their speed.
Is " undertaking " and passing same or different meaning? I thought undertsling means changing back in fromt of over/ undettaken vehicle ehoke passinh simply means getting physically past ?
