Seriously, they really are one of the best bands I’ve experienced…and I am a TooL fan. 😂 🫶🏻 I actually missed their existence until relatively recently (embarrassingly recently) because I have been in the bubble of Med School and Residency when they started. I would travel across the world to see them live and I’m afraid I’ll never get a chance to see them live. 😢
I honestly think Dave and the Foos were at their peak or zenith at this time. Wasting Light was maybe their finest. Family was big to all the guys at that time. Dave went and blew it all apart! He had such a beautiful family.
it easy to track a band like the foo fighters to tape because none of their parts are difficult in the least.. :-) if you have to over dub powerchords.., thats no bueno..
…After watching this recording of “Misery” I thought it sounded familiar…go back and watch “You can’t fix this” from the Sound City film, and you’ll hear that it’s lyrical harmony & even song structure is pretty much lifted from the track Stevie Nicks did
I can put this album on loop and it sounds like new every single time still in 2024. Heard they’re re-recording it. Then they can put it on vinyl. Taylor versioning it
26:11 Joseph Milligan mentions this same point in their live Covid album "Heavy Lies the Crown" (The Vital live lockdown album) that Vital is his second favorite album and that Cities is his favorite album they've ever done, and that's him talking in 2021. I absolutely love Vital. It's my personal favorite album of the band after Friendship and I've closely followed them since 2005 since I was 14, I'm 33 now. I'd say personally, that my favorite Anberlin records in order are: 1. Never Take Friendship Personal 2. Vital 3. Blueprints for the Black Market 4. Vega (this album is technically not released yet, but every song is that will be on it from Silverline EP + Convinced EP + Walk Alone + Seven (released only as live recordings) but I know the track listing from Apple Music and therefore know all the songs, and really like it) 5. New Surrender 6. Lowborn 7. Dark is the Way, Light is a Place (I understand these are the "official albums" and there are more, but it only makes sense to rank the official albums to me personally)
Still would argue that Tom Delonge, maybe not the greatest guitarist/musician, but im coining him one of the great melodist. Not sure if thats a word, if it isnt its been coined. Say what you will about him, he comes up with some catchy melodies/riffs
