Ce fut un des premiers airs qu'enfant j'ai entendu sur un disque que l'on m'avait offert. Il y a donc bien longtemps. J'étais sous le charme. Le chanteur était Georges Thill. Or votre voix, votre chant, l'intonation envoutante... Tout m'a fait ressouvenir de la première écoute. Il y a plus infamant comme comparaison!🤩
Hello Spencer, I think you should be singing with toes a little bit more spread apart ! It would help with your high notes 😂 haha !! love your voice mate !!!
I’ve heard quite a few interpretations of this beautiful and extremely difficult aria, including by some of the best known tenors. I thought Mr. Britten’s version here deserves a big round of applause as it was one of the better attempts. Your comment Sir sounds out of line.
Quelle beauté, quelle émotion !! En ces temps de déchirements, ces deux merveilleux artistes nous offrent un peu de répit qui rend confiance en l'humanité.
I really enjoyed that. Brought up on Heddle Nash's rather strait-laced version (don't get me wrong: it's awesome in its own way), I loved your freer interpretation - which is most likely what Handel expected anyway. And (I've said elsewhere on your channel) it's fabulous hearing a tenor who sounds like a tenor and not a baritone in tight trousers).
That was wonderful: the pianissimo high Bs; the shaping of it in general. It's probably not appropriate in a concert setting but I expect you could carry off Bizet's written ending brilliantly: only a high A but that long, long dying away on the E ("souven...ir"). The stage directions are, after all: il s'étend sur une natte et s'endort.
@@SpencerBrittenTenor Thank YOU. I had a great time watching it. What I resent is the fact that I have watched dozens of vids of Le Comte and Il viaggio and inexplicably RU-vid never suggested this one. Obviously this the reason for having so small number of views. Anyway. a pleasure to watch.
A beautiful, heart-felt performance of a notoriously difficult aria. The breath control was superb, and the notes blossomed out into perfectly controlled, glorious sound. I wish the recitative could have been included in the performance, giving heart and context for this love aria, which was sung with amazing technical artistry. Bravo, and may you have a great career! You went in bocco lupo, and you were the victor!
To your point, I actually attended the live performance at Notre Dame, Montreal and had the pleasure of listening to Spencer for the first time. Such a wonderful voice 💕
Scrolling along, and I ran into this...already a year old? Incredible. I loved your performance and the ease with which you navigated those diabolical Cs! Lovely! I hope to see you perform it live someday!
Very VERY good.. This is very uncomfortable music to sing, most often. Great discipline here. Excellent. What’s that aria that Gedda sings?? “Magische Töne”..would be great to hear from you. Bravo!
