I don't think there's a robbery if a song finishes high, particularly in modern times when so many songs actually enter. In 2016 Icebreaker didn't even make the final, that's a complete robbery.
Not great results, but not unexpected with some. Montenegro with no Eurovision reputation had little chance, same with Georgia really. I thought Cyprus might qualify, but the trashy Romanian song did. Belgium boring song.

Very happy Euphoria and Heroes aren't here (I actually preferred Hero). I really like the Greek broadcaster's entries in 2019 / 2021, but of course I've nothing against Greek as a language. I like the sound of the Italian language but there's not as many great songs as I'd hope. Sanremo reflects that and when I love a song it very rarely wins. For example Amare last year. The BBC's best years for me were the first half of the 80s. Of the lesser known songs Baby Baby and Romeo are very familiar to me. Baby Baby was one of the best last placed songs, though certainly there are other great ones not least of which was Barbara Dex.
I think the ESC 2020 should have gone ahead somehow. They could have had each artist perform from a TV studio in their own country. Ideally this ought to have been live by satellite during the relevant slot on the relevant show, but if that wasn't possible, they could have produced "live on tape" performances, from a TV studio in their own country, like all ESC 2021 artists had to do. Being as the Rotterdam Ahoy ended up being used as a temporary hospital, the Dutch presenters could have done their links from Studio 21, Hilversum, Netherlands where Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light took place. As for the jury voting, the jury members could have been given access codes to see a "jury rehearsal" (which would have been the presenter links and live-on-tape performances) from their own homes, and they could have submitted their votes to the EBU over the internet. The public vote during the Tuesday / Thursday / Saturday shows could have gone ahead as planned. They managed to have the JESC 2020, with most participants performing from their own country (pre-recorded performances), so they could have had a remote ESC 2020. Whilst not ideal, I think this would have been better than cancelling the ESC 2020 altogether.
Things about Sergey. The song is a banger and he's hot. That's worth douze point for sure right? Add in flashy staging and you get one of the best examples of a modern Eurovision number. While 1944 is certainly an emotionally charged piece of art, it was not my favorite that year and I don't go back to listen to it often.
