One of my favorite songwriters of all time and yet this is one of the more obscure songs that didn't get a lot of radio play. Is an absolute masterpiece of a song! It breaks my heart when I just think about the words and then when I hear Matraca sing it, My heart breaks all over. Again! Thank you for such beautiful music and thank you for your words for so many years. ❤
You woman are beautiful when you dance, please forgive us guy's for trying! 😅 I feel awkward trying to be a lovely sex object on that dance floor! LOL... Maybe after 5 drinks from the bar!
The story Jon mentions about Garth is interesting. Garth, who had already been in Nashville for about a year; this was 1988, he had been turned down by every label in town and he was crushed. He had a gig at the Bluebird and he was number seven in the lineup of, like, ten songwriters and the guy who was supposed to go on second was not there yet and the producer of the show asked Garth if he would go on in his place if the guy never showed up. What he didn’t know was that there were labels in the audience who had come to listen to the gentleman that did not show up. Capitol Records was in the audience, they had passed on Garth the month before. But Lynn Schultz, who was working with Capitol at the time, saw something that caught his eye. He went up to Garth’s manager, Bob Doyle, and said to him: “I think we missed something, bring him back in Monday and let’s talk.” And the rest is history.
I remember reading somewhere that when Jon asked Kathy to sing this song, she said that she wasn't sure she could, because she didn't think she could get through it without crying. I literally can't sing this song without crying. What a beautiful ode to Jon's grandparents, and to love in general. We only have one life, and so much love to give, we shouldn't waste it looking at someone else's yard. Love is always the answer, and it will guide people through the hardest of times. We need each other more than ever. We need love more than ever.
I was just thinking when I 'skipped' Eat at Joe's how I don't like Matraca's '"hit's" ! I have 5 of her CD's and this is another of her 'hit's I don't like.... {I Luvvvvvv "Back in the Saddle"...... } Think she sing's her song's better than anyone else..... Love her voice. X X X..... Great song writer.....
I have hundreds of albums. Girl of my dreams is in my top 10. The other 9 artist in my top 10 are all well known names most would recognize. Rock, folk and country stars. I am convinced this album would be in many people’s top 10 if it would have been better marketed.

Why Jon Randall is not a superstar is beyond my comprehension. His unreleased album Cold Coffee Morning, may have occurred at a crucial moment that derailed his momentum. We'll never know. An unknown number of promotional copies were distributed prior to the album being pulled back from release. If anyone has a copy that you are willing to sell, let me know. Name your price.
Thank you for this wonderful video. I am 70 yrs. old now and this video brought so much emotion and some tears to my to my eyes. When you delve into the. bowels the spirit and the soul of music you will find, Patsy Cline.
2006 was Bruce Bochy final season as Padres manager, as he will sign with the Giants after the season/postseason, and 2006 was Grady Little's first season as Dodgers manager (most famous for being the RSOX manager in 2003 and the whole fiasco in the ALCS 2003 against the Yankees)
These two teams had a chance to face each other in the 2006 NLCS, but they both lost in the Division Series (Padres lost to Cardinals, while Dodgers lost to Mets) It would have been something to see Piazza facing the Dodgers for the NL Pennant in an all-California NLCS matchup
Whats more unreal is that the Dodgers in 2006 were not at all a home run team, in that their highest home run hitters in 2006 were both Nomar and JD Drew, and both of them only had 20 home runs each. And everyone else had 15 home runs or less in 2006 And yet they hit 7 home runs in this game against the Padres
Padres just owned the Dodgers in 2006, going 13-5 in 18 games against them. And with this being the final game they played each other in 2006, had the Padres hold on to win this game, they would have finished 14-4 against them in 2006 So unreal that they both finished with the same record, and that the Dodgers were able to make this sensational comeback in this game, despite the Padres owning them this season
I was seeing the seats being more than half empty by 9th inning and it makes all sense after you say the Padres owned the Dodgers so people assumed the Dodgers will get closed out with that lead. Such a huge game missed by people who left early for this legendary game.
Once I Had A Blind Date It Was Very Best Because I Was A Hard Punk Rocker She Was Best Date I've Would Never Had Oh Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy If My Blind Date Is Patsy Cline
Bro we lived the same exact experience! I was just 10 at the time begging my dad… created a life long Dodger fan seeing my favorite player at the time rip a walk off 👊🏼
I was very sad to learn that Stewart died May 4, 2023 in his sleep. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama Feb. 13, 1949. Thanks, Stewart, for sharing some time with me and encouraging my songwriting way back when. I won't forget you.
